In general it seems Europe are more rhetorically hostile to Russia and don’t really need the US to tell them to sanction them.
Also Russia is not the only one that can supply Europe besides america, oil exports are still dominated by the Saudis and the Gulf states. Even Canada exports about as much oil as america.

There was a concerted effort by some to recruit of reddit to the fediverse. They have an “anti-tankie” bias and so directed users to instances accordingly. They’re currently recruiting off reddit to piefed as well.
