It tastes rich like a cup of coffee, but with less caffeine so you can drink it all day without getting zooted off the energy sauce. If I lived in China I’d drink it on the daily with every meal.

Try pu’er. It’s so fucking good. When I’m off the sauce (booze) I become a tea enjoyer. Oolong, of course, but give pu’er a try if you can find it around you

i’ve moved away from coffee because my job only has a single stall for employees and customers and coffee does stuff to me

so i’ve gotten into loose tea and oolong is on my list to try. I’ve been drinking gunpowder green tea lately which is pretty good

I always thought tea was more gentle on me than coffee but lately my nicer green teas have been turning my tummy into an old timely edwardian-era factory oooaaaaaaauhhh.gif

It’s stronger than green tea but not in the unpleasant way that (western) black tea is that requires additives.

You should also try 红茶hong cha (red tea) which is what black tea is called in China and it’s way better than cracker black tea and also pleasant to drink unadulterated. This is different to what gets called “red tea” in english, which is made from a whole different plant (rooibos)

Hell yeah, Oolong is top tier. Charcoal roasted oolong is my favorite.

Also, Like other people have recommended, Pu-er is a good next variety to try. It’s basically fermented aged and a historically prized tea. It can have a funky aroma depending on how it’s made, but is very good.

I normally don’t like added flavors that much, but I recommend “sweet sticky rice” Pu-er, which is Pu-er with the herb Nuo Mi Xiang added and it gives it a nice fresh made rice scent. It’s delicious.

If you find a good distributor (I’ve had good experience with teavivre) you can get variety packs, which let you sample a wide range of different varieties of each main type of tea. I recommend doing this because there are so many varieties and they are usually all pretty good!

Also: high quality tea can be a little more expensive but You can and should rebrew the tea!!! Especially with Pu-er. Depending on how you brew it you can get several brews out of the high quality stuff, and the flavor can improve sometimes.

It has so much range. You can get a tie guan yin or a colored species, which are basically just green tea but better. Or you can get a da hong pao or dan cong, which are basically black/red tea but better.
