this reminds me of my theory that people will unthinkingly spend money as long as the price is below a pack of cigarettes.
So that’s why those fuckers are so expensive these days!
This being about Peak totally makes sense. One of the best five bucks I’ve ever spent. Actually, it was ten bucks because I bought a copy for my girlfriend so we can play together.
To think you could spend twenty bucks to play a game with four friends for less than the price of a single AAA game is wild. And it still goes on sale too!
I’m upset at how much sense this makes to me.
The industry has spent millions on hiring psychologists to figure this shit out instead of making games more fun.
Eight bucks is ten bucks, wtf are they smoking
counterpoint: $7.99 is five dollars
well it has 7 in there and thats only 2 more than 5…

This is how they start off gacha game addicts.
Similarly, I bought a record recently for €30, and as long as I keep thinking of it as €, it’s not real money.
all money isn’t real if you really think about it, I’d keep spending it!
I’m afraid $7.50 is the most expensive 5 bucks in my book
That makes complete sense. I usually make things up in the price of a pita shawarma, but it’s the same concept. I think it falls under the broad category of “girl math”
edit: Broad category: girl math

Broad category: girl math
Girl math is the study of functors from the Broad category to the category of tits buildings.
8 = 5 feels off.
Yeah, but I think I’ve got proof
7.95 = 5
7.99 = 7.95
8 =/= 10
8 =/= 5
8 =/= 7
However
n = n.99 - 1
Therefore
7.99 = 8
So
8 = 7.99 = 7.95 = 5It only works for 7 and 8 because those are uncomfortable numbers that we want to be another number, but going from 8 to 10 is too big because we go from one digit to two.
edit: additionally if 6 was 8 it also wouldn’t work, because 6 is a number that feels wrong to mess with. Hence why, when people ballpark amounts, they often guesstimate “about 6 or 7”. This also leads on to reinforce the current gen alpha 67eeen mindworm
I would guess this is because of subitizing. Around 7 is the maximum number for many people.
I think it falls under the broad category of “girl math”
Please explain to me how this isn’t misogyny.
Would u like that in a girl math proof or traditional
It’s actually misandrist because girl math is actual math. Originally it had to do with how a person earmarked money spent and not spending it and deciding to spend it on something else and considering that to cost zero. But that works out economically as that money was already spent and it is, in fact, how economists consider spending. So as it turns out, “girl math” is just conventional economics and “guy math” is wrong as guys are effectively emotionally “spending” the money twice.
Girl mathlol that guy’s brother (youtube uploader not scott steiner) owns 20% of giantbomb
I love how you can see all the others fighting like hell not to laugh
I’ll have to watch that vid later! Can’t watch stuff at work!
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_math it’s just a meme, and not even one of the problematic ones.
I mean, alright, but it still seems like misogyny to me. Just like “girl dinner”, except worse because of the pervasive (and extremely incorrect) stereotype that women are bad at math.
I get that. I used to feel like that about a bunch of stuff, now I try to tap out
I insist you return and not only engage, but aggressively do so. Having a struggle session about girl math with literally other communists is a definite and real step towards solving the problems men and women face in a society which not only encourages, but rewards psychopathy, sociopathy, and antisocial behaviors at its very fundamental structure.
Now, have at me! Ravish me!
That article goes on to explain how it is misogyny right there.
Yeah, I just grabbed the first thing that explained the meme. Who would have figured wikipedia was saying silly things

Actually that makes sense
It does! Also these companies put so much effort into understanding consumer psychology that hearing a developer explain how they mean to separate you from your money, it feels refreshing that I’m not being condescended to for once.
yep they got my number lol
Broke: Stores setting prices to $X.99 to trick consumers into thinking things are a dollar cheaper
Woke: Whatever the fuck this is
nah this is bespoke.
woke is including tax in the posted price
If you get as cheap as I am you feel the daggers of every dollar increase and this fuzzy math logic goes away.
The price point knows where it is, because it knows where it isn’t.
