It’s fucked that you can sentence someone to life without parole

Edit: it’s double fucked someone can get a harsher sentence because the judge didn’t get a cookie and a juice box

Good that even judges are forced to eat cheap food in their car instead of somewhere normal, social, inviting You know like a food-place… with friends… and sofas

Let’s be honest, who wants to eat or socialise with a judge?

So outside the local courthouse there’s this great deli. Pretty much the entire town eats there. At 11 you get the military shift, 1130 the courthouse, noon the office shift, one the mall, anyways it’s open picnic table seating and I’ve got a couple judges in the family already. I’ve gotten to know most of the local courthouse just by eating at the right time.

That’s why they have chambers, so at lunch in the cafeteria, the attorneys and the victim and the accused won’t all murmur and stare at the judge while they trade desserts.

If they aren’t ruling on my own case I’d be up for it. They probably have interesting stories.

For those who don’t realise, this is a demonstrable phenomenon - Hungry judges pass down harsher sentences, are less likely to grant parole, etc.

Good thing we have the appeals process and a judge can later overturn or change the sentence if it was determined to be a mistrial or new evidence arrises.

Well, that depends on it… being a mistrial, or missing new evidence. The appeals process doesn’t help when a hangry judge gives you a harsher sentence per their discretion.

Yeah and thankfully it’s really cheap and not stressful to use at all. Barely anyone is deterred from using it when they should.

Welcome to The Shitpost Office

Shitposts processed from 9 to 5, with occasional overtime on weekends.

Rule 1: Be Civil, Not Sinister

Treat others like fellow employees, not enemies in the breakroom.

  • No harassment, dogpiling, or brigading
  • No bigotry (transphobia, racism, sexism, etc.)
  • Respect people’s time and space. We’re here to laugh, not to loathe
Rule 2: No Prohibited Postage

Some packages are simply undeliverable. That means:

  • No spam or scams
  • No porn or sexually explicit content
  • No illegal content
  • NSFW content must be properly tagged

If you see anything that violates these rules, please report it so we can return it to sender. Otherwise? Have fun, be silly, and enjoy the chaos. The office runs best when everyone’s laughing… or retching over the stench, at least.
