“Bullshit propaganda” is what they say about the truth when confronted by it, so that should be the response.

No, cows are furrier and brown.
It requires two engines, a huge boon for car companies, and any companies that are in the supply or service chains for engines. As such I expect to see it on all model year 2028s. In 2036, they’ll decide they “made a mistake” and some companies will stop doing it. They’ll be hailed as revolutionaries for listening to customer demand.
Yeah but the obesity craze didn’t kick off until the 70s. We’ve been forcing kids to sit down at school for a lot longer than that.
They were more active outside of school before that, yes, but mostly they didn’t eat an ultra-high-processed diet rich in simple carbs. We know why it happened, we’re just so addicted to the problem that the solution is only now coming, in injectable form.
I say that as a thin person who takes a small GP1 dose because of the long-term sugar addiction I’ve had since before I can literally remember…

Come on Secret Service, come after this white, cornfed Iowa boy, it’ll look great in the headlines. Whit privilege on the line, fat fucks.

News@lemmy.world•Minnesota US Attorney’s Office is bracing for a new wave of resignations
2·2 days agoIt says to encourage people in these jobs to think in reverse and do a shit job, it doesn’t say to take a job for the purposes of doing a shit job. You’re supposed to find people already employed, use a sense of humor, encourage them to fuck off and be careless, do the opposite of what’s told. The subjects are people who aren’t going to quit their jobs because they can’t. They have families depending on them, they may be employed in compulsory positions, like required military service.
In any case it was written about mechanics and guards, not career civil rights attorneys, a different beast entirely.

5·2 days agoWalz mobilized the National Guard yesterday, I think he sees this coming. If they are already under his order, and then Trump federalizes them, they’ll have to make choices.

2·2 days agoThere’s a guy on an overpass many mornings with a cardboard sign that is unreadable from the ground, I know what it says because I drive by him above (Deport Trump), but we do need some workshops on “how to make your sign readable because it’s worthless without that simple thing.”

World News@lemmy.world•Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over GreenlandEnglish
5·2 days agoThat’s the Republican goal honestly, but they don’t seem to understand the eventual ramifications. Without blue states to prop them up financially, what’s going to happen? They get to be dictators of dirt piles. The poor folks who can’t flee the state will stay and their lives will become hell. A few libertarians might move in, so they can start child prostitution ranches or whatever lights their fire. More or less anarchy, like dual authoritarian/libertarian path that Trump is laying out. Just… scary to think about. I’ll have to abandon my beloved historic home in the South, but also, would be nice to not look at a homeless guy sleeping under cardboard a block away (it’s 34* F) because these morons won’t pass a single tax to improve things. Sigh.
Invade us. I wish that were possible. Put the world forces together, nuke Montana to make a point (with a bit of warning to get all 11 people out). The only way fascism has been stopped at this scale is by might. If we’re the mightiest then fascism is coming for you, too, it’s just a matter of when.

politics @lemmy.world•Disastrous poll shows Trump’s White House return is a ‘failure’: Americans say he’s ‘gone too far’
12·2 days agoProtests are becoming more frequent around here, even in the cold Southerners are not prepared for. This weekend I drove under a FUCK ICE protest on an overpass, with a FUCK ICE sticker on my car, to a store and passed a panhandler with a giant FUCK THE POLICE sign. Then my Mexican neighbors reached out to thank me for putting the sticker on my car. I feel a sense of alignment around me. I’m in Arkansas of all places. (I’m omitting quite a bit of anti-trans shit this weekend but that’s another story).

28·3 days agoThey love authoritarianism, more than they love other people, democracy, anything. There’s a certain amount of neural wiring involved, as people lean into it, their amygdala grows larger and their fear of “others” and “chaos” intensifies.
When I saw my mom posting a fundraiser for the Ice murderer’s family last week, I realized a cop could beat me to death in front of her, and she’d tend to his bruised knuckles in apology. That was the very last straw, I don’t know her anymore.
I think I’ll have another cup… tomorrow I guess.
Drip is weak as hell, french press is IMO easier and doesn’t include the paper waste. You get to control the strength beyond just adding more to the basket and hoping it trickles down (heh).

8·3 days agoThat is unfortunately SO much media these days. We should demand better, the media is the fourth pillar and its corruption and failure is to blame as much as anything else.

Yep, it’s a warning.
If you want the intrusive thoughts, the calls-of-the-void to go away, simply acknowledge the thought, thank it for keeping you safe, and move on.
Yes, you can talk to your thoughts, you can freeze them and interrogate them, ask them why they’re there and what they’re doing. This is called cognitive diffusion, part of ACT therapy. Eventually, you will find a reason to thank the thought and move on, it’s strange but hugely effective. Works on any type of thought.
