yeah I’m on 10 ltsc and too lazy to change (except for migrating to a newer SSD to speed it up) but I see people are saying Bazzite linux is good for gaming now
I put Bazzite on an old laptop I bought off my work. I think it comes with a few extra packages for gaming, but most of it is handled through Steam and Proton.
You can get it to boot straight into Steam Big Picture mode like SteamOS so it’s great for handhelds or loungeroom PCs.I think there’s an option to not do that but you need to make that decision when you download the image version.
It’s kind of like the ‘SteamOS at home’ distro that’s almost as good. The go-to gaming option if your hardware isn’t supported by SteamOS
As far as my last few days of reading about distros can tell, all of them are good for gaming - Proton does the heavy lifting, and the only thing it seems completely unable to deal with is kernel level anticheat. Bazzite is built to streamline gaming, particularly across multiple devices (eg PC and handheld), but as long as you can work out how to install Steam you can game on any distro.
