I’m in no mood to read the fucking thing. I might tomorrow. In any case - I had a peek at the final paragraphs. The NYT often puts the best stuff at the very, very end.

Joe Gomes, a research analyst with Noble Capital who monitors immigration detention companies, said that the companies and their investors had been anticipating a huge windfall when Mr. Trump took over. But what is on offer now would dwarf that.

“It reinforces what the general consensus was, that the Trump administration policies here should be a significant boon for both CoreCivic and Geo at least in the short term as they continue to put more people under detention,” Mr. Gomes said. “This would seem to reinforce that the federal government is going to do what they have said — putting money where your mouth is, so to speak.”

Also - and of course - comments are off.

One of the worst things about the Internet is how mods turn off comments the second something spicy happens. What’s the point of comments if we’re only allowed to comment on the stories where a dog stole a steak off someone’s grill and it was cute or something?

Fuck this country. They’ve so thoroughly squeezed every last bit of humanity out of us and we can’t even speak up

Honestly, it’s the other way around, Nazi Germany was trying to do a Manifest Destiny v2.0. Burgerland is just returning back to its roots (that it never really left in the first place).
