Many liberals also know on some level that the pandemic which killed millions and is still active was not mitigated by ‘their good guys’ at all, and they aren’t fond of being reminded of that uncomfortable truth

This is a good suggestion to any USians. I’ve been trying to formulate the best argument for my own work situation, this may be a route.
I would basically just ask google what title your [place of work (hospital, school, etc)] falls under the ADA, to see if it applies.

Ya they made no justification except for relationships with students. Frankly no student or parent complained, and I feel like I get along well with my classes.
