Hello, does this work like reddit?

There are similarities, there are differences. Like anything new you just have to get used to it. I like the fact that you can include images in a post, in Reddit you have to post a link to an image rather than an image itself. There are dozens of emojis to choose from if you like those, but best of all is that it is extremely hard for tptb to ‘moderate’ it. (so far at least).

The points against it are that there is no ‘today’s posts’ like reddit although all the posts are marked with a time of posting so that is not all that difficult, but you will have to continually change the sort order to ‘New’ in order to make sense of it (the default is active/hot and it always returns to that and I haven’t found a way to change that yet)

I did this a long time ago Liz, I don’t remember exactly when, must be 18 months ago I should think, and one of the reasons I did it was because I had never done anything like it before and I enjoyed the challenge. So I appreciate the thanks but it wasn’t entirely altruistic. It wasn’t that difficult to do, but there was one thing that drove me mad, and that was the community ‘banner’ (the swamp logo at the top of the page). It had to have a swamp in it and it had to have the words ‘Free Speech’ somewhere. AI didn’t exist then, at least not on my computer, so I had to do some of the work on it myself (which is why it is so bad, I don’t really get on with graphics stuff) that wasn’t the difficult bit though, what was difficult was that they only accept banners of a certain size ie length, height and ‘weight’ (size in Kb) the trouble is that nowhere that I can find do they specify what those parameters are, so I had to keep submitting different logos until I accidentally hit on the correct one. It took me ages to do that.

It does look suspiciously as if ‘the other place’ has not been attacked by the Starmer stormtroopers so far so maybe this site will not be needed just yet but it will always serve as a bolthole if you ever get banned for some infringement or other. Make no mistake though the effects of the “online safety bill” will make themselves known eventually. The mission creep starts with the likes of porn sites and later goes on to cover anything not approved of by the overlords.

I’m not one of the new breed of Puritans that tells you what to eat, drink and think my friend, that is your business, the correlation between fast food and death is unproven at best. You will die certainly, I can guarantee that, but when that is going to happen probably has a lot more to do with the genes you were born with than the type of food you eat while you are alive. In fact there is an argument that being happy gives you a long life - also unproven but possible nonetheless, so if eating burgers makes you happy maybe it will prolong your life not shorten it! My reason for posting the picture is that I like observational humour and that is a good example of it.
