"Feel like shit. Waiting for a bed having been on chairs since 4pm. No sleep. Nowhere to lie down.
I’ve seen several people collapse while waiting. Others discharging themselves despite having serious conditions because they just can’t take it."
As I am persona non grata over there I post my reply here.
Really Sheepman, I’m surprised at you. You swan in to an NHS hospital at 4pm and expect to be seen by a doctor? That is so selfish! 4pm is close to the end of the working day and therefore many will have clocked off already whilst their replacements will be stuck in traffic due to the traffic calming/bus lanes/ulez zones/flat batteries in their EV’s etc etc. This leaves very few staff on duty and most of these will either be in health and safety/customer service meetings or in planning meetings for their next strike. What do you think the NHS is, a public service or something?
Anyhow, I suggest you try gaming the system. Approach the receptionist and tell them that you think you might be pregnant, this will get you seen immediately.
Seriously, I hope ‘in the fullness of time’ you achieve some resolution to your problem and I am genuinely sorry though not at all surprised to hear about the appalling way you are being treated. Anyone who thinks the NHS is the saintly ‘gold standard’ portrayed by the media has obviously never used it.
