Why, you ask? Because these laws almost always appear to be first and foremost tools of surveillance and control, not for legitimate reasons, so everyone’s in these laws’ scopes. It’s just easier to go for the bigger players first, or even the US companies as they need to respect the laws of countries they operate in by American law too.

Flying under the radar can only delay the problem so much, so if it concerns you, or whomever else for that matter, do push against these laws, and understand people need to be as resilient as those pushing in favor of these laws.

Some things:

First, Blåhaj Lemmy is pretty friendly from my experience, so I struggle to see how it would be an extremist instance. Also another instance in the block list, Ibbit, if anything, seems to be aligned with the political vision the dev’s block list implies, so I don’t see why it’s included either.

Second, a problem I have with Piefed too, I don’t like the idea of a central power deciding what is good and what is not to the individuals or even for administration. Lemmy has an instance-blocking feature on the individual user’s settings, so let him/her be mature and choose who he/she walks with. And if administration thinks a given instance isn’t good for the experience intended in their own instance, that’s for them to decide and for the users to decide if the administration’s choice was good or not, not for an easy-to-miss setting to.

Third and similarly, for the other domains blocked, use Ublock Origin/Violentmonkey to hide posts with them, ask Dessalines to add a per-user domain block feature similar to Mastodon and Mbin’s, or whatever. Again decision should be in the hands of the users and administration.

Agreed, except on the profit part. I’d say it’s more about control, like if 1984 was in some digital platform and suddenly it got removed from everyone’s libraries (…oh, wait). Then with control, profit is much easier, if that’s still desired.

It’s something that’s being pushed for some 20 years now, always a bit at a time, always homeopatic dosis so people don’t notice. DLCs, updates, multiplayer on third party servers only… I doubt someone from Games Radar is watching this thread, but if someone is, using the community as scapegoat to fool the community itself doesn’t end well, if that’s the intent.

For power-users: Are all third-party ROMs blocked?

No. We currently support GrapheneOS when the bootloader is locked. We may support other third-party ROMs if:

• They do not break the AOSP security model,
• They support installation with a locked bootloader,
• They properly configure and publish self-signed verified boot keys for their ROM, and
• They promptly update to the latest AOSP patch level. We frequently update minimum operating system security requirements.

If ROMs do not consistently adhere to the standards above, we will remove them from the set of supported verified boot keys.

Not familiar with the app. The only interface I know based on anything Reddit-related is Mlmym, based on old.reddit.com specifically (e.g. on Blåhaj Zone).

Also besides the other comments mentioning people are likely not keeping track of the current Reddit UI, considering the major fediverse softwares are pretty “app-fied” even on mobile browsers, I’d imagine not many would be using apps either. And because of that, I’d expect a much smaller subset would be concerned with an UI based on or copying Reddit’s.

Would the handle not suffice? The @lemmy.world part of every user and community of the instance.

Or, if that’s what you are asking for, locally Lemmy doesn’t show a handle, and looking at the settings of an instance I have an alt on, there doesn’t seem to be an option to toggle the display of handles, for either local or external users/communities. In that case, using a function on that idea on Mbin, I’d second the idea of implementing on Lemmy.

Unfamiliar with the service, but more in line of preservation, I’d check if the achievements can be backed up. If not, all of one’s efforts could go to the bin at any given time.

If I’m interpreting it right, cellSysmodule would be like a middleman for loading Windows’ DLLs or Linux’s dependencies. Or more directly, comparing to the PS Vita’s HENkaku, it’d be like the config.txt file for loading plugins.

Done before. Pretty straight forward. Even making a basic Bash or CMD launcher is pretty simple, if you just want an interactive menu for opening games.

Also GOG has emulated games, so the image could be taken more literally too.
