Socialism@lemmy.ml•a little question about ai slop and the impact it may or may NOT have on future generations.
2·8 hours agoThey said virtue signaling because it’s the essence of what you’re doing - declaring that you express a set of viewpoints rather than actually demonstrating your belief in them through your words and actions.
I don’t personally see any reason to start another discussion with slightly different wording.
I don’t believe you need to apologize to me. If you need some acceptance of your apology, I give it, but I see that acceptance as meaningless, personally.
You’ve asked many times whether you should study more theory and I don’t think I’ve ever seen any variation in the answers. Perhaps instead of asking whether you should, just do.

2·9 hours agoSince you’ve expressed that it can be hard to stay focused on reading, I gave you a long list of podcast links previously to help with both-siding genocide in hopes that it would be an easier format for you to get introduced to some theory with. Have you listened to them yet?
If so, maybe read through this post. It’s got a long list of sources to other articles and videos that are a bit shorter than reading theory, and might help out with some aspects of supporting AES countries that you’ve also struggled with.

i care deeply about equity, inclusivity and freedom
To quote someone else in this thread:
Why are you worried about virtue signaling.
You’ve frequently made claims about things you care about, or believe in, but your words come across as empty when you fail to understand or reflect on or understand how the things you say come across as racist (or Zionist).
i am against the idea of ai being used for profit and such which is why i asked that question
Ok, great, but why did that need to be expressed using terms that are heavily tied to a history of racism and oppression? You can say it just like you did here and not equate a hatred of how AI is being used with a hatred of people.
are there any words i should use against ai chatbots? i’m NOT even sure if i ask if i can say ‘bleep-blorpie’ for ai bots
I don’t know - what’s the origin of “bleep-blorpie”? Is it a permutation of some slur? Is it something that you will use in a way that is “pretend racist”? If so, seems like a bad idea to me.

0·11 hours agoDo you seriously not see the racist connotations? You can absolutely say that AI should be segregated. But I will assume you are a racist who wants to get away with “pretend racism” by directing it at AI instead of just being openly racist.
Oh damn, I’ve been traveling through time for a while now (just forward, though) what sandwich do I need to eat to bring this reality about?
This is why personifying cookies is bad.

2·20 hours agowhat if the us becomes a socialist country during the great depression?
The US didn’t become a socialist country during the Great Depression, so while there might be value in trying to understand ways people might have worked towards it in that moment, theorizing about how things might be different now if someone had managed to seems pointless.

2·20 hours agoI haven’t looked into the origins of this latest list of terms, but 2 slurs have already been ruled out for their racially charged ties to other slurs and the tendency people who use them have to use them in ways that “pretend at” racism (i.e. saying that AI should be “segregated”) and that alone makes me wary of people who want to make up some slurs for AI, even if I generally find that it’s being used for things it’s wildly unsuitable for.

Communism@lemmy.ml•Myth Debunked: Communism Works in Theory...
3·3 days agoYeah, the first part is definitely focused on why capitalism doesn’t work in theory or practice, and I’m looking forward to the second part too.
I can guess that one of the major themes will be that capitalists have routinely sought to eradicate any smidgeon of nascent communism, using both military and economic force to either/both physically destroy the places and peoples working towards it, or impose sanctions that purposefully isolate them from the rest of the world.
The article touches on this in the section about how capitalism fails in practice:
When capitalism could no longer rule by consent, it ruled by coercion […] defending itself with violence when ideology and markets fail.
This is perhaps most easily evident in Korea, where capitalism responded to communism first by more than decimating the civilian population and committing war crimes, destroying nearly every trace of visible above-ground infrastructure, and then by levying sanctions to isolate and undermine them.
