To give a little longer response, it is disheartening that the only response to that kind of genocide is a audible sigh. Maybe that was fine, but you have that murderer on national TV. Rake him through the coals.

Edit - Thinking more about this - if you had Goebbels on your show during WW2, what would you ask him?

Tapper had been fairly pro-Israel until now, from what I’ve seen, so I think he was only just starting to have a wake up.

It’s interesting to see the shift, and Israeli spokespeople are so incredibly bad at their jobs it’s going to keep happening.

They’re bad at their jobs because they lack even a shred of empathy. They are indoctrinated into dehumanizing any perceived enemy of Isreal.

After they’ve been able to silence critics with the word “antisemetism” since like WWII, they haven’t really had to put much effort into brushing shit like this off. Then the Trump presidency quickly gave people a large dose of similar bad faith arguments and justifications to the point where an immunity is building up.

A tipping point was reached between this and the last time the Israel Palestine conflict flared up. The last time, I saw the bad faith in the antisemitic “argument” but it was still popular enough that it felt very risky saying anything about it. It doesn’t feel that way anymore, though I do wonder how far Israel will go to try to shut up critics and how far they’ve already gone to maintain the political support they have in the west. They are already killing journalists, what else?

Honestly have to agree. You’ve got him on TV, and after that remark, you should drag that line of thinking all the way out. Make them justify it, don’t just accept “oh they should’ve known better”.

Have you read up on anything about Netenyahu? He is king asshole over there right now. Something like 80% of the population hates their current government and, rightly, actively blames them for the entire current situation.

So what? What about the last 20 years before that?

They were perfectly happy with his policies towards the Palestinians and settlement of the West Bank.

His only mistake was trying overturn the powers of the Supreme Court to save himself from corruption charges.

Huh? His party has only been in power half that time. Even now he’s only still around by gaming shit like the GOP with the electoral college and changing laws. He’s not popularly elected.

How many Israelis have you talked to about Palestine and 2 or 3 state solutions? Are you aware how many want a separate state for the Orthodox bc they don’t want theocracy or to go to war for others’ religion.

I don’t think you’ve been following the nuances for 20 years. At least you don’t sound informed as one would be. Apologies if I’m incorrect.

Is it so hard to remember that the Israeli government is an extreme right wing, theocratic regime.

The likelihood of your values aligning well with them or their spokespeople, even within Israel, is very low. They stripped their own supreme court of the ability to stop them doing what they wanted.

There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now. … What do you mean you’ve never been to Alpha Centauri? Oh, for heaven’s sake, mankind, it’s only four light years away, you know. I’m sorry, but if you can’t be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that’s your own lookout. Energize the demolition beams.

“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”

      “That’s the display department.”

      “With a flashlight.”

“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”

      “So had the stairs.”

“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”

“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard."

Go fucking where?! Move south? Okay just pack up and move south? Well actually, IDF tells them to leave everything behind and those that don’t leave everything have been bombed on the evacuation routes under suspension of being Hamas. Oh and they’ve bombed areas they’ve told people to go! So, go fucking where?! With nothing but the clothes on your back, to a place with no water, food, or shelter. That probably will be bombed anyway. Ya so, GO FUCKING WHERE?

There’s more evacuation orders now too. So they’ve made about 3/4 of Gaza off limits. And of course you still can’t evacuate through IDF lines. Only further towards the water…

Ukraine was just a proxy to exhaust Russian resources with.

Now that the entire country is in ruin America is going to pull support and leave them for dead like they’ve done with all their other proxies.

Israel destroyed the internet and telephone infastructure in gaza so no one could communicate.

What air dropped maps are they supposed to follow and when are they supposed to follow them to not be killed indiscriminately? How did Israel make sure everyone had the current maps to ensure their safety from the bombing?

The local government is supposed to tell civilians where an invading army is going to bomb them when israel has purposely destroyed all telecommunications?

How would the local goverment know the invading armies plans? How would they communicate them to innocent families when all infastructure to do so was purposely destroyed?

Hamas won by a slim majority in 2006, was supposed to be part of a unity government with Fatah, who they then turned on and began murdering in 2007 and then took power by force. Many Gazans weren’t even born in 2006, nevermind old enough to vote.

You’re holding people accountable for something that they had no say in.

Looking for an excuse to ignore cruelty never reflects well on the person doing it. It alerts the reader that you understand what is happening is wrong and are going ahead with it anyways.
