Mates, makeup ain’t for y’all. You know how you spent eight hours messing with your .bashrc or rolling for counter strike skins or whatever weirdass hobby you have? You don’t do it because you are trying to attract women - you see your friends get into something cool and you get competitive with them. That’s what it is for the womenfolk. They get their nails did and do weird ass makeup looks because it’s a fun hobby. They know that you probably don’t care about the difference between coffin and ballerina nails. But their friends do, and they want to show off, because it’s fun.
Wow, this is a wake up call. I have been wasting my time on this .bashrc file.
Time I enjoy wasting isn’t wasted time … so yeah, totally wasted on .bashsrc, but the programmer socks make up for it.
programmer socks
I know I’ve been online for too long to know if these are just nerdy socks or cute thigh highs for ricing
I’m pretty sure anyone saying the phrase “programming socks” really means cute thigh highs
Powerline fonts are just fake lashes for nerds
They get their nails did and do weird ass makeup looks because it’s a fun hobby.
One of my all time favourite xkcd comics and that’s saying a metric shitton!
-10° is cold day in Moscow? That’s warm day! Cold is -25°.
Yeah women spend an hour on makeup before their shitty job they hate every morning because they just like it as a fun thing to do, totally nothing to do with societal pressures of beauty, it’s just a fun thing most women like to do to entertain themselves at 6am when they ain’t getting enough sleep as is.
Yeah you’re right women only put makeup on for work and never do it cause they want to, never use colors or styles they think are pretty, never take pictures of their makeup done to show to their friends, spend 0 time in communities dedicated to discussing techniques and styles that are popular
You’re totally right we all only do it cause of social obligations and hate doing it
Lady, sit down and take your mansplaining. /s
Congratulations on falling for the final step of brainwashing: denying to having been brainwashed.
Conspiracy theory logic.
AS a gay guy i can atleast tell you this dies not hold true for the gays OFC part of its all in gold fünf but we still try to look hot 4 guys
Maybe it’s a guy thing to want to look hot primarily to attract a mate, so that’s why hetero men think women do everything just to look good for them.

Honestly i think it isn’t a Gender thing and much more an individual thing thats different for everyone IMO much too much gets associated with Gender when it shouldn’t have anything to do with it
Wow, seems like you are the only reasonable person on lemmy. Kudos!
Users here love to hate other platforms for their hostile comments but continue to create an equally toxic environment just with a different flavor.
As long as people have fun and don’t hurt anybody, let them roam.
And the notion of what is looking good and bad is a result of heavily sexualized norms that are fed into girls at a young age already. In the effect women who chose not to wear makeup are facing backlash and are made to feel less confident.
So it isn’t just a fun hobby. It is also the expression and often submission to sexualized and sexist societal norms.
Didn’t had the fun to mess with my .bashrc, but I have to mess with the jdk-openjdk and the jre-openjdk package, which are in conflict. All help I found online didn’t work.
I made a .config/shell/shellrc.
Man she’d be really hot if her eyelashes were longer.
There. I just said it. Now this post is a LIE
😱🤯
prove that you are a dude
I thought we’d already covered this…
Kel is the sole reason I call everyone dude, and I really wish everyone remembered this 90s gem.
Good burger 2 coming out soon. They are back baby!
I hope they really drive the everyone-is-dude point this time even if it’s so heavy handed that the right cancels it for being woke.
Damn that’s next week too. Just watched the trailer, and, uh, fuck it i’ll watch it lol
We are approaching the day when more people were born after kel evangelized about dudes from the counter, than before
That’s fine but I’m a woman and I feel uncomfortable when people call me “dude.”
Sorry, dude.
I’m warning you, Ma’am.

So, a few things:
- No way to prove you’re a dude.
- Post is still not a lie, as your statement followed the post. You can’t say that someone in the year 1900 was a liar if they said “no man has walked on the moon”.
- Technically you wrote it, not said it. Therefore your comment is a LIE
In 1900 no man had walked on the moon yet. Wouldn’t be a lie if in 1900 someone said “No man has walked on the moon.”
Yup, that’s the point I was making as well
This is 2023. Everyone’s a dude, dude.
writing is a valid form of speech, and protected under the first amendment
Okay now you have to follow through. Go out and marry one of those falsie-long-lashes freaks. No divorces allowed. You must gaze adoringly into her eyes at least twenty times a day for the rest of your life.
I have made a terrible mistake
But he said true story. It’s the incel code.
No but they absolutely do say, “Wow you look really pretty today” but have no idea why.
Men treat you nicer when you wear makeup.
The other day my coworker said, “you look different. I don’t know what it is, but you look great. I think you’ve been getting a lot of rest” nope. Just wore makeup that day
My husband, many times, has been looking at me, admiring me, and complimenting me on how naturally beautiful I am without realizing I just filled my eyebrows in that day and have darker lashes rather than blonde lashes.
Just because men have the privilege of ignorance doesn’t mean they aren’t attracted to made up faces.
I believe the post is specifically about long eyelashes, fake eyelashes.
That said, my wife has worn makeup twice in 18 years. I love her for being herself, but I complimented her on how nice she looked those two times her sister did her makeup because I’m not a complete jerk and have some idea of how to be kind when someone has spent an hour trying to look nice. I also attempted to make it clear that I preferred her without makeup, maybe something along the lines of, “I love how naturally beautiful you are.”
Just because some women consider men to be ignorant doesn’t mean we are.
I personally chucked it up to artistry. Makeup is to put it literally is drawing on your face and thusly it’s art. I’m a artist and yea I’ve had people male and female see one of my photos or drawings and ask me how I made this or that thing look cool. I’ve even had people say my photographs look nice because I take a lot of pictures, and well I suppose that’s a pretty blunt way of saying I practiced. If you don’t study a art form you won’t know what separates beginner artists from veteran artists. Tbh the only reason I know anything about makeup is because I sketch and making human CGI models is basically doing makeup for someone else and even then I understand that a lot of my terminology might be wrong and you can’t just simply make someones nose smaller or make them have a bigger mouth.
https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2020-82365-001
Spot on, and supported by psyche studies. They may not be consciously thinking about the lashes, but they definitely notice.
Why is this a thing, but then if men wear any makeup whatsoever, it’s immediately noticeable? Unfair man.
Cause it’s really difficult to apply a subtle hint of makeup to enhance existing features. Men (usually) don’t get a ton of practice at it, so they use a heavy hand.
People that say they hate makeup USUALLY just hate heavy, poorly done makeup.
People that say they hate cosmetic surgery USUALLY just hate heavy, poorly done plastic surgery.I hate when people feel they need to apply makeup they don’t want, and hate when people feel they need surgery to look good, but there are definitely people who do both for the right reasons, and do them well, and people DO notice the improvement, they just don’t always notice why.
I do feel bad that makeup isn’t more normalized for men. That said, the more you practice, the less noticeable it is! And if you go for a practiced natural look, it will probably not be noticeable to other men! For what it’s worth, makeup is almost always going to be immediately noticed by people who do makeup
My wife has worn makeup maybe twice since we have been married. She naturally has skin that women pay a lot of money to try and emulate. Your ancetotal evidence isnt good for much.
Enhancing make-up of course anyone might like. The issue is there is a lot of excessive makeup that to me looks terrible. Ofc, people aren’t just wearing it to impress me, but you’re giving the impression that any guy who complains about make-up doesn’t understand and is just a hypocrite. I don’t know any guy who actually likes eye shadow, long nails, or lipstick.
I be you do know plenty of guys that do, it’s easy to assume everyone thinks like you but that’s not how humans work.
Maybe so, but no one I’ve talked to about it has said so. I guess saying, nobody that I know of is more accurate.
As a man, I agree. I think it’s more that if it’s noticable make up, it’s probably too much, and that’s the only kind most men notice. I personally don’t care about the things you mentioned, however I do appreciate eyeliner and hair dyes (as long as it isn’t damaged to a crisp). Otherwise, just generally looking healthy and hygienic is important.
I’m a guy who really likes all of those, and heavier make-up looks in general. I wouldn’t ever expect someone to wear them just for me though. I see makeup as something that’s 90% for the person wearing it, and making them feel good about themselves. Same goes for lighter or no make-up looks. The confidence from feeling good about yourself is far more important than whatever “look” you go for.
Lol they’re just trying to be nice - they see the effort and wanna let you know.
My husband, many times, has been looking at me, admiring me, and complimenting me on how naturally beautiful I am without realizing I just filled my eyebrows in that day and have darker lashes rather than blonde lashes.
Your husband can’t help it if you don’t rock your real natural self from time to time. You know damn well you try to avoid not wearing any makeup at all and use some to feign “natural beauty”.
tips fedora
Lmao. I’ve worn makeup only like a dozen times in the past year for big events and he compliments me all the time regardless. You’re just illustrating what I said in my original post, most men have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to makeup.
You’re not wrong
Most men have no idea what they actually like. I’d be willing to bet most wouldn’t be able to identify light mascara even if they saw it applied
Agree. Men who go out of their way to evaluate women’s appearances and say they like women with no makeup generally mean they prefer it when women are level ten makeup astronauts who make full face look like “I just woke up this way!”
That said, the full-set lakes that make it visibly hard for a person to blink look really uncomfortable, and that makes me vicariously uncomfortable.
Men who go out of their way to evaluate women’s appearances and say they like women with no makeup generally mean they prefer it when women are level ten makeup astronauts who make full face look like “I just woke up this way!”
How do you evaluate that? I’m really asking, cause I’ve been in long-term relationships, so I’ve gone to bed next to someone who just removed their makeup and liked their face better without it, so please let me know how you evaluate that “generally” that’s what men mean - that they like full face make-up?
There’s two kinds of putting on makeup: the kind where you’re going for drama, and the kind where you try to make it look as natural as possible, highlighting features to make them look better.
Most often, when you see comments about ‘women should look like this!’ And ‘see, women without makeup look better!’ the pictures that go along with the comment are women with a very good version of the second type of makeup.
Oh, so you base your assumption of “most men” off of comments you see on the internet. Ok, nevermind then.
Ah, but I’m given to understand it’s only men on the internet. If that’s the case, given the large number of people, then it’s by far the biggest sample size.
Your choice to rely on data collected from internet isn’t wrong because “there are no women on the internet”, or because the sample size is too small. It’s wrong because of two things
-
the bias of your sample, which is created by you. You’re the only one reading comments, so you’re only reading them from certain sources. Whether those sources will constitute a sample that is representative to the rest of the world is debatable
-
People lie on the internet. For example, I am a piranha, and every time I hit a certain region of my tank’s glass, autocorrect selects one of the three words suggested, based on the location of my head bonk. Unfortunately so are most of my colleagues in this thread replying to makeup related questions, as well as everywhere else in your online presence. We’re all just fish bonking our heads on glass. We’d obviously all love makeup on women, if we understood the concept of women. Your polling sample is unfortunately tainted. But hey, at least you know now that most piranhas like makeup on women.
Boy, snark and hyperbole are really lost on you, aren’t they.
-
My, aren’t we salty.
What I’m saying is, there is a certain type of man who goes around policing women’s appearances and beauty habits on the internet (ew, I wish they wouldn’t wear makeups… so gross!). This type also gets fussy when they have to witness a woman not having a stunningly flawless face (ew, she’s a 3, how dare she exist).
My wife rarely wares makeup and rarely has. I prefer it when she doesn’t, which is good because so does she.
say they like women with no makeup
It generally means they don’t like women wearing so much make-up it is noticeable even to them.
At least for me. I rather prefer them a little ugly than looking like a clown.
It can take a lot of makeup to create a look where a bunch of guys think there’s no make-up.
To say it differently, you don’t ask a fish how to go fishing. They would just say “be a delicious worm or bug” and have no concept of rods, reels, locations, or any of the skills involved in actually fishing.
Very much this. I tried to further explain the reasoning but I realized that it’d just sounded way more incel’y than it needed to.
Yeah, this statement is simply wrong. Men unconsciously notice a lot of things, and they might deny noticing even obvious ones because any acknowledgement of fashion is considered effeminate by some men.
I love the drag queen lashes that are so long they’ll take out the person next to you if you turn your head too fast.
hey so this might come as a surprise to some guys but actually most of the time women put effort into their appearance for themselves, so they feel confident, and comfortable in their bodies.
this post is reeking of Jordan Peterson’s women wear makeup because they want to fuck me energy
You cannot not communicate, the societal notion as to which is “good looks” for women is strongly sexualized and children are exposed to these notions from an early age. Also the subtle or less subtle social pressure plays a big role in it. A friend of mine moved from a “posh” city to mine. She said she didn’t dare going out without putting on makeup for two hours because she would get bad looks in the street otherwise and it took her a long time to unlearn that.
So while it isn’t women wearing make up because they want to fuck, the social construction that makes them feel less confident and less comfortable without make up is revolving around that and it is part of the problem. It is not that women just feel more confident with make up. It is that they feel less confident without it, because they are pressured to feel so.
Sure, but that doesn’t explain things like elaborately decorated nails. Women aren’t doing that to attract men. They’re doing it because they like the way it looks and they feel like it’s a way of expressing themselves.
Two things can be true. Makeup can be a healthy form of self-expression for people who use it AND a brick in the overall wall that is gendered oppression.
I wish we could just make makeup illegal. It’s bad for humans, it’s bad for the animals we test it on, it’s probably bad for the environment, it’s expensive, and takes a lot of time every day to apply. And as far I’m concerned it doesn’t even obtain the ostensible goal of making people more attractive. It fills no function other than to feed insecurity and fill the pockets of shareholders.
Even some men wear makeup. Every actor wears makeup. It’s been a part of human art for millenia, and only recently has developed into daily sexist expectations.
I’d be very careful about banning anything that lets people express themselves, even if most people are doing it in a way I don’t like. The external costs (pollution, animals) can be addressed with pigouvian taxes not specific to these products.
Sure, I realize it’s not realistic. Maybe we could at least change the attitude people have towards it, from “you need it to be accepted as a human being” to “it’s weird, but if you think it’s fun go for it”.
And because long nails have historically been a status symbol. People who do physical labor can’t usually have nice long nails.
I’m a woman. We don’t do it for ourselves, we do it so outward society as a whole doesn’t call us “tired” all day. If I thought I could go into work with no makeup and not get looks or comments, I would.
And while I have my disagreement from Peterson, you’ve completely missed the point to what he said. Makeup emulates the changes a face goes through when aroused. It is tied to attraction, which is tied to sex. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp.
i just stopped wearing any makeup except lipstick and sunscreen when covid happened. i really thought about wearing it when i got my current job and decided that, if i started, i would be creating an “expectation.” i didn’t want to deal with “you look tired” on days i didn’t bother, or feel like i had to whether i wanted to mess with it or not.
now i wear makeup for fancy dress and that’s it.
but respect for people who do wear it often! i admire how nice it looks on my coworker who clearly puts time and effort into a really beautiful makeup.
I personally do it for both extrinsic and intrinsic reasons. I feel very cute with eyeshadow and mascara. Unfortunately i needed a second attempt at puberty so i also need makeup to ensure that no one gives me a hard time for my beard shadow. Including myself.
And yet men go for the women with long eyelashes. Just because men aren’t aware of it doesn’t mean the women’s moves don’t work.
But even if they didn’t, imagine this: Women can change the way they look entirely without wanting to look hotter for men. Shocking, I know.
There’s people out there attracted to literal human excrement, so you think that’s also a reasonable thing to wear on your face? Just because some idiots are attracted to that stuff doesn’t make it inherently attractive.
I don’t believe I made any comment about what’s “inherently attractive” or “reasonable” to “wear on your face”. What’s with the loaded question?
yet men go for the women with long eyelashes
Implication of status and reasonability.
Just because men aren’t aware of it doesn’t mean the women’s moves don’t work.
Supposition of validity and established status.
Women can change the way they look
Implication of fashion, which includes makeup, which is worn on face.
If you’re going to blatantly lie, do it in a setting where you won’t get called out for being a filthy liar.
If I say “the sun rises in the morning”, is that also an “implication of status and reasonability”? Do explain how a neutral statement implies “status and reasonability”. Go ahead!
Also explain what an “implication of fashion” is, in detail, please. Women are, in fact, able to change the way they look, I’d be surprised if that’s news to you. This fact is entirely unrelated to fashion.
You also failed to show how I said anything about something being “inherently attractive”. Try to keep up with your own accusations, please.
If you’re going to postulate your twisted interpretation means another person lied, do it in a way that at least pretends to refer to what has been said.
I knew a girl with thin eyelashes in junior high/high school. She got made fun of for it a lot, by both girls and boys. So, I’m guessing some girls want thick lashes because they learned the hard way that guys do indeed care, and unfortunately society cares in general.
As a dude, find fake lashes repulsive. I’m just too nice to call people out to their face.
You probably find extreme falsies repulsive, but you probably wouldn’t notice a natural filling in if them. And, you wouldn’t find a lack of natural lashes very attractive either.
Same but I do call them out. Told my girl she looks great naturally and she finally got enough confidence to go bare all the time
I prefer her that way, too.
So do I
And my axe
I’ve been using tweezers
Not accosting strangers or, heaven forbid, friends about how repulsive you find their features is a pretty low bar for “nice”.
No, this is not a case of anyone caring about that specifically. This is yet another case of teenagers picking on someone and finding any difference to focus on. Teenagers can be horrible.
There are two extreme sides. Yeah, if you dont have many lashes to begin with, men will notice it as a flaw.
Right now, extremely large lashes are popular. I suspect it arose from Instagram makeup posts, or Instagram beauty in general. Eyelashes are harder to see in photos, so putting them on causes a fuller look. There are lots of women today who still wear a full face of Instagram makeup every day. The look today is extreme.
The sad reality of false lashes are that their regular lashes will eventually all or mostly fall out with extended use, both the glue on ones and the thraded in one’s. It’s a self-fulfilling cycle, because eventually they’ll have no natural lashes at all, causing them to have to wear them.
I used to wear falsies once a week back in 2010/2011 for a fashion meetup I attended. As soon I saw my natural lashes start falling out, I stopped. Now I only wear them if a Halloween costume calls for it. It’s not worth it otherwise.
And before anyone comes at me with: “But if you wear them pRoPeRlY-!”
It doesn’t matter. Humans aren’t infallible and mistakes happen. Over a long enough period, those lashes are coming out.
Yes, guys care, but what we have today isn’t just a reaction to men caring, it’s Instagram selfish culture in general.
I think girls who get long eyelashes do it because they like how they look.
And thank god if they do because I would hate a woman who only cares about what other people think of her looks.
You raise an interesting point. Are women’s preferences in how they look organically theirs? Or is it conditioned over time by patriarchal beauty standards? Like, why do women actually like long lashes? If long lash products didn’t exist, would women go out of their way to invent them?
Longer lashes look more youthful and healthy. So do bigger eyes and framing your eyes can make them look bigger, that’s why people use dark eyeliner and mascara on light skin tones and light eye makeup on darker skin tones mostly.
This is of course not “organically” in their interest. It comes from our society valuing women almost exclusively for how youthful and pretty they look.
I wonder if there is a cycologly study asking that.
I dunno. If we’re talking crazy-long-lashes, that’s definitely the desire to be distinctive (something I highly respect). If we’re just talking merely “classic lash extensions”, then good question.
I’m sure some aspect of longer lashes is traditional and inscribed. It’s not like any style trends are truly original these days. “Look at me, I’m edgy. I got a tattoo. Only had to get in line behind all the other edgy people who got tattoos”.
I think stepping further, there’s an aspect of systemic sexism that our first knee-jerk reaction to a woman’s style decision is “men want, or wanted, them to look that way”, but a men’s style decision is more “to be yourself”. I mean, if I’m being myself tossing on a pair of jeans with a polo, she can be herself getting an eyelash extension.
How egotistic do you have to be to think that your opinion is warranted with regards to women’s appearance? Good for you if you think you don’t like lashes. No one asked, and I’d be willing to bet you’d see a woman with full face on including lashes or mascara and think she looks great. 🙄
The men in this thread calling women repulsive for wearing lashes are unbelievable. Imagine saying something so horrible to someone about an aspect of their appearance you personally think you don’t like. And then you wonder why no one wants to date you. So fucking sad that the endless male commentary on women’s bodies can make it to c/all and see so much support here.
As a dude, I want women to use this meme format for guys.
Something like, “No woman cares about your shuriken collection”. (Wow writing it out loud, I attacked myself…)
If she doesnt care about our shuriken collection is she even worth it?
The onion did this once, it’s a yt video called the “attractive girls union” iirc
Now I want to see a post showing off your shuriken collection
This site is becoming the same kind of mysognistic reddit was.
I’m afraid, this isn’t exclusive to Lemmy or Reddit. It’s just patriarchy and toxic masculinity doing its thing
I’m honestly disappointed in Lemmy rn…
The fact this post is even still up and upvoted without thought is depressing, that applies even if it wasn’t specifically about women or anything else.
Not only that, OP’s post history is quite problematic.
The bumper sticker slogan isn’t really wrong, i think most of us are ignorant to what we do/don’t like in this regard. I would have never said that before a month ago tbh because my wife never got them, and then when she did, I said why waste the money you dont need them. Then found myself staring at her more. I still prob wouldnt say it. As the women have shown in here we can be pretty oblivious. And I think im fairly in tune with small details making a big difference.
Not only that, OP’s post history is quite problematic.
What’s problematic about it? Because I post greentexts?
There’s not much I can say to you to convince you it is problematic, but posts like this and the weird hate on other things.
There’s a fraction of a fraction of a percent of Lemmy users in this thread, it’s probably not a good yardstick to measure the entire userbase by.
The thread isn’t even that bad, it’s the upvotes that’re sad.
If I’m doing a male equivalent of fake eyelashes, I hope someone would tell me!
Like wearing a muscle suit under your clothes
I think a pretty big misunderstanding is that is seems that women dress up because it’s fun. Meanwhile the only time a man puts any thought into their outfit is specifically to impress others. It’s so engrained that unless explained it never occurs to them that someone might just dress to look good to themselves. I’d imagine in the country side this division is even moreso engrained because we don’t even think about the quality of what we are wearing. What ever we wear will get covered in motor oil. It will be torn to shreds by working outside. Because of that I’m accustomed to nice outfits and makeup to be basically flirting. We think makeup and dresses are flirting on women because suits manicured facial hair and hair styles is one of the way men flirt.
Sorry, this is about fake eyelashes, which are a choice. It’s not a genetic or heritable trait. It’s no different than criticizing nail color or fashion choice. Bad choices look bad.
You can now criticize my choice of tshirt or haircut. That’s completely fair.
Would you judge a guy who didn’t shower for months?
Not taking care of your hygiene is not comparable to wearing makeup 🙄 if I went on a date with someone who was unkempt and unhygienic I would assume they’re struggling to care for themselves or doesn’t care. Either way, I’d leave and if they asked I’d be honest and tell them why.
It’s their body though? Who are you to judge?
Every single human being is held to the standards of hygiene. Being unhygienic is bad for your health and can spread disease. Men are not held to the same standards of hygiene that women are. Men are not held to the same standards of appearance that women are. Men are not punished for failing to meet those standards in the same way that women are.
Do you think women don’t get judged for being unhygienic? I run into men in public all the time who I can smell from 30 yards away and who are covered in dirt or oil or God knows what. I very rarely run into women who are comparably unkempt. Women face severe social consequences for being even slightly unkempt. Even if they’re trades workers.
And none of this is even relevant to the topic which is about makeup.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Preach.
It can spread disease in some cases, but generally most people won’t get significantly more diseases if they live a normal life except for not showing for a few months. This has nothing to do with the gender of the person, it could be a woman too. Do you judge anyone for not showering? If so why do you care? You’re almost definitely not going to catch a disease from them unless your in intimate contact with them. Their body their choice.
Is this a copypasta? Because I don’t care what you think, valley girls are gross
Nah, you’re fucking gross. Calling women gross for their appearance is gross.
I’m calling a group of women gross for CHOOSING to look like a heavily deformed demi-human.
The way you talk about the bodies of women who have nothing to do with you is absolutely disgusting. How you can call women literally “deformed demi-humans” and somehow think your words are justified is beyond me. Your behavior and attitude is misogynistic and you are totally repulsive.
You say to a feminist, as you’re too much of a moron to understand what is being said.
Yes you’re such a feminist calling women deformed demi-humans and telling them they’re gross. 🙄
Being in favor of a group doesn’t mean “praise them no matter how stupid a thing an individual or subgroup does”.
Simple example hypothetical: if you saw a woman using literal shit as makeup, would you not think she’s gross? Just so you know, answering ‘no’ means you have a severe neural problem.
It’s not your body. So fuck you.
How about you focus on yourself, rather than judge others around you?
Are you daft? Do you not have eyes? Or maybe you’re an alien, possibly?
Vertebrates have phenotypical and behavioral characteristics, “judging”, i.e. classifying as desired and undesired, is a primordial part of our branch of life.
You’re not a victim of your nature and neither should the people around you be. You have agency over your actions.
You decided to post your shitty, judgemental thoughts. When, instead, you could have had those thoughts; internally recognized that perhaps they are incredibly shitty and judgemental; then decided against posting those thoughts.
Unless you’re telling me you’re just a dumb, devoid animal completely powerless against their own nature?
Isn’t this like CGI? If done right you don’t see it?
no woman has ever said “these fake eyelashes are ugly as fuck but if i wear them i bet dudes will find me hot”
true story…
Gotdamn yall. Some men think it’s hot, some men don’t. Some women do wear makeup for others, some women don’t. More broadly, no one group does anything for a single reason so we need to stop being so combative online about shit posts.
No dude has ever said “she’d look hotter if her lips and cheeks were redder,” either but ya’ll would cry if we stopped wearing lipstick and blush. Quit your bullshit.
Seriously. I’m sure some people will hyperfixate on the lipstick/rouge example you gave, but generally many guys don’t understand or think about makeup and thus have no awareness of how it impacts how they’re attracted to people. And then they have the gall to lecture others about what works and what doesn’t.
Also shoutout to some of the straight up sexist replies in this thread. Nice to see a sizable chunk of reddit neckbeards made their way over here.
I would say it is kind of sexist to state that all men would cry if women stopped wearing blush and lipstick, and that we don’t realize what we are attracted to. We aren’t a hivemind. I personally prefer natural over makeup.
That being said, yea some of these replies are douchey as hell, and I’m sorry for women who have to deal with that bullshit.
You might be a rare exception that actually means what they say, but the vast majority of men who say “I personally prefer natural over makeup” don’t realize that our “natural” that they love is quite often still a light touch of makeup here and there. Not to mention the sexist implication that we’re necessarily doing it for you.
There are most definitely a ton of men out there who think like that, so I completely understand. I think women can be beautiful with makeup, too, I just feel there is too much pressure for women to wear it, when it should be an entirely personal choice.
I would like to at least make it known that there are men who think women and feminine souls of all types can be attractive without makeup, as well.
But the post is already sexist. Why wouldn’t women want to push back?
not to mention, I get dressed and think “I look good today!”
at no point do i think, “I wonder if the average woman would like me wearing this, and if they wouldn’t I will never wear it again”
I mean I’m bi, so I guess it’s “any given person”
if I had to dress entirely like any person anywhere in the world would like what I’m wearing I’d end up looking like a waiter every day.
But then some people think that women somehow are considering “the average guy” in their dressing habits. I assume the majority of the world gives very little thought to other people when getting dressed.
To be fair guys would still have sex with you if you didn’t wear make-up at all. It’s just that if you like the way you look with make-up, do your thing. I hardly wear any make-up because my cheeks turn red naturally and I don’t want to hide that and add artificial blush. I’ll just do lipstick and smokey eyes.
Lol I think they were talking about eyelash extensions
Men like natural women so we wouldn’t cry.
ya’ll would cry if we stopped wearing lipstick and blush.
I don’t think so? Maybe blush, but I don’t know any guy who really likes lipstick. Same with fake nails.
Fake nails look awful. Don’t know why anyone would consider claws attractive. Lipstick can look alright though.
Red lipstick is the worst. Makes the wearer look clownish.
Nah, calm your tits.
I wanna make my lashes hella long and paint my eyelids green so my eyes look like a pair of Venus Flytraps.
Upvote for Aeon
I don’t like that. ಠ_ಠ
Please kill me
I showed the original Aeon Flux to my 13-year-old a few months ago. I didn’t realize that it works a lot better split up into chunks like on the original Liquid TV. Still good though. I liked the show too, but she wasn’t interested in watching it. I might later.
Fun fact. Men have actually on average longer eyelashes than women. It makes sense when you think about the fact that their hormones promote men’s hair growth.
That means eyelashes, ironically enough, are a masculine feature.
Could you tell that to the hair in my head that slowly disappearing? Although I do have very long eyelashes…
Pluck your eyelashes and get them transplanted onto your head. Problem solved.
And silly me thought all those punks used styling gel
It’s not disappearing. It’s migrating towards your back, your face, and your ass. Ask me how I know.
Looking like a dam yeti at the beach with one bright bald spot.
Ask me how I know
Are you spying on him?
I can neither nor confirm deny that.
Women find this irresistible!
I mean, if a dude exercises, lots of women do go for this look. Beats the hell outa me.
