    agrees to forfeit $194 million

admitting he invented fake classified programs to divert nearly $200 million in government money that he used to buy Florida mansions and gold.

So his punishment is a fine of -$6 million?

At his detention hearing, government lawyers called Rush a “master manipulator”

The whole article reads like an advertisement for the story rights. CIA can use some chud studio to act as a front to funnel more money to his commissary so he’ll be comfortable.

I love how the CIA is portrayed in American movies and tv as super-competent and unyielding. Yet in actuality the CIA hasn’t discovered the ultra low tech concept of simple “background checks”. And - of course - it’s beyond funny that he convinced his superiors he needed $200,000,000 to do whatever. Plus this…

David Rush entered a guilty plea on a single count of wire fraud during a hearing in federal court in Virginia.

Ah, that’s setting an example! Somehow I feel that if his name was Ishaaq - the CIA would want the charges to be approaching 100 years. But how much time could wire fraud be for this white guy named David if he’s found guilty? ~5 years?

About 20 years has passed since it came out. And America has gotten stupider every day since then. People on Facebook believe that dogs exist that are bigger than horses because they can’t tell AI slop from reality. They’ll believe anything. It would be great if the Coen brothers allowed fan to a create reality tv version that was the exact same story but shot found footage style as if it had actually happened. I think a lot of Americans would believe it was real.

God only knows what the average American will think and will believe ~20 years from now. Scary.

    1. Get a job for the government by lying about your credentials
    2. Lie your way through the background check
    3. Ask your boss for gold bars for “work expenses” and get them.
    4. Stash your ill gotten gains in a non-extradition country <---- (Important!)

This guy is either just short of insanely lucky or defrauding the government is way easier than it should be.
