The CIA also spent 13 years hunting Radovan Karadžić, a Serbian who was living a public life in Serbia.

“As we’re moving forward with further integrating our military-industrial capacity with them, there’s deep frustration that we’re doing this for a country that dragged us into a war we’re losing, a country that spies on us.”

Looks like a lot of people are not happy with ultra-orthodox population are exempt from military service, increasing food prices and US starting to separate from them. There’s also an election on Oct 27. There is also a mention of veterans coming back with PTSD from the war. The CIA research is saying they are on the edge of civil war. But don’t quote me as the article has their sources that we can’t verify. Also I don’t think the CIA research won’t be released.

The collapse of Israel is a good time for no-one. You know for a fact the situation that replaces it will be twice as bad as the cluster fuck that is the situation now.

Israel has around 90 nuclear warheads with the materials to build up to about 200. The only thing I can imagine being worse is if idiots even more unhinged than their current government acquire and use them. Yes, the bar is that low.

What do you think would happen if the Israeli state collapsed tomorrow?

          1. All Jews and Arabs hold hands in a circle and sing Kumbaya
          2. A power vacuum leads to extremely powerful terrorist groups forming who take over the region, including the few dozen nuclear weapons that were previously controlled by the Israeli state.

Your comment is the classic Lemmy special:

          • anything that is bad must be condemned in all aspects and nothing positive is allowed to be said about it in any context whatsoever
          • anything good must be praised unquestionably in all aspects and nothing negative must ever be said about it in any context whatsoever.

First of all, you said that, not me.

But you can take a look at other examples of what happens in cases of state collapse to convince yourself this is pretty much true anywhere in the world.

I would be shocked if the UN did anything substantial here. If they do anything, they’d probably re-declare Mandatory Palestine and give it to Donald Trump.

Over what? Half the country likes genocide and the other half likes genocide, too? All these terrorist countries like Israel, the USA and Russia can all go to hell.

CIA reports what Isreal wants them to report. So Netanyahu wants you to think the country is close to collapse. So that he can justify emergency powers to keep himself in power indefinitely.

One of the deepest fractures in Israeli politics has emerged not over opposition to the country’s war crimes—but over who is expected to fight and who is exempt.

In case anyone’s confused the contradictions include regrets over what’s been done in Gaza.

Fun fact: Even secular wholesome Israelis also want to colonize Palestine (though they’re sometimes less enthusiastic about genociding the inhabitants). Chalking this up to religion has nothing to do with reality and is frankly colonialist apologia.
