In short:
G7 countries are set to release up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil reserves.
It comes amid soaring fuel prices and after clashes between European leaders and Donald Trump.
The US president is under political pressure in America over rising energy costs, which have been sparked by the US-Israeli war with Iran.
Interesting possible consequence of this is that it could reduce pressure on the Republicans in the lead-up to the midterm elections by reducing the cost of petrol and therefore the impact of inflation to the average American. Which Europe probably doesn’t want, since it’s Trump’s ability to do whatever he wants unchecked that’s caused this problem in the first place.
Its a ridiculous situation the US has put the world in. Every time the US does something like this, the Europeans probably have to cop a lot of it and play nice for now. But should definitely take it as further motivation to remove themselves from the US chokeholds they’ve allowed.
Charles De’Gaul might’ve been a cunt in many ways, but he understood the value of his country’s freedom.
