I’ve looked closer into this now, particularly the website of D-A-Ch gegen Hass, the org ran by this guy, looked at who publicly supports them, how and where they are covered in the press and what their stated goals are. It’s both intriguing and sickening. Katz is extremely well-connected, especially in Bavarian politics and media, which are both reactionary af and a steady source of funds due to the wealth of the free state. He is specifically briefing cops and judges to make sure his policies get applied on the streets and in the courtrooms, he is working on a “cross-border monitoring network together with Israel” and he is lobbying to outright illegalize anything that can be construed as “denying Israel’s right to exist”, which expressly includes calls for boycott. Guy Katz is actively fighting to make any and all solidarity with Palestinians a crime, and he’s got the backing of Bavaria’s minister president Markus Söder, the main Jewish lobbying organizations, the federal antisemitism czar Felix Klein, a ton of celebrities, the federal state secretary of culture Wolfram Weimer and to top it all off he’s got a well-oiled PR campaign as well, including the freely downloadable stickers. I saw one of those on a car just last week. It creeps me the fuck out how close to home this all hits.

There is only one small sliver of hope in this article, but without anything to mobilize these people in earnest, nothing will come of it. This elite wall-to-wall solidarity is in stark contrast to the general population. A 2025 YouGov survey found widespread revulsion with Israel, with eight times as many Germans holding highly negative views of the country as highly positive ones. In total, only 21% of the public see Israel in a positive light (including only 4% highly positive), with with 65% displaying open opposition (including 32% who strongly dislike it). Another recent poll found that 62% of all voters believe Israel is carrying out a genocide in Gaza. When taking out those who said they did not know or did not answer, nearly four-in-five Germans responded that they considered Israel’s actions genocidal.
YouGov isn’t exactly the best survey source. But anyways the issue in Germany is that the majority doesn’t think Israhell shouldn’t exist, only that they do bad things right now and if bad man Netanyahu is gone, everything will be peachy.
So basically liberal Zionism, sadly partially the fault of the german left who never allowed anti-Zionism to become a strong force in the german counter-hegemony sphere because of an anti-dialectal materialist idealist german exceptionalism.
The way the CDU is currently redistributing funds for diversity projects is extremely sus, in Berlin they just bypassed all legal guidelines and threw money at whoever was the most rabidly zionist while gutting successful, long-running community organizing for POC and queers. I bet there’s many more cases like this, lots of state and federal funds are shuffeled around atm.
On top of that, Germany has been a proving ground for zionist repression in recent years, people elsewhere in the imperial core should study cases like this closely because it wouldn’t be the first time that a measure against solidarity with Palestine that was applied in Berlin or Munich first suddenly becomes a policy in the US.
The language that they used against Corbin back then was very much pioneered inside Germany against Die Linke and the RAF before. So this is true. Germany is also crawling with CIA goons and military bases - a place firmly in the grasp of the empire and conductive to test out new strategies to subdue “westerners” for further use.
