Im putting $100 on it now that he’ll have a SA charge in the next 5 years. And another $100 that it’ll get dropped even with ample evidence.

He has a few different charges.

        • this one mentioned in the article

        • a child endangerment charge because he left his own son unsupervised I think?

        • a child sexual exploitation charge because he slept with some 17 year old when he was 18, filmed it and posted the video online

On the one hand, throwing people in prison for long sentences isn’t an approach that’s been working to create a well-adjusted society, is it? I don’t want everyone locked up for years for every little thing.

On the other hand, what are the odds you and I could engage in this kind of unhinged, wonton criminal behavior and get a sweetheart deal like this? Breaking into a car, then using the stuff you found in the car to steal money from the same person? None of that was an accident. “Attempted” identity theft? WTF?

The severity of the punishment often depends in how much was stolen. The article seems to indicate that he charged <$1k before the card started being declined. I am actually surprised he got any jail time at all, but the fact that he had that other guilty plea and was going to jail anyway probably convinced the judge to hand out some time.

When I saw the article subtitle, I got a little confused because I could have sworn he was arrested for other charges as well. It’s conveniently buried in the article that he’s also been arrested for child endangerment, sexual exploitation of a child, and contributing to the delinquency of a child:

Boebert, however, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of child abuse and neglect, resulting in convictions that violated the terms of his probation. The 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Weld County pursued the charges after Boebert’s young son was found wandering unattended on two occasions.

Last week, a judge sentenced Boebert to 20 days in jail with work release, stipulating that the sentence could run concurrently with his sentence in Garfield County.

Defense attorney Joseph Gavaldon told the court his client’s toddler had been in a “Lewis and Clark” phase when he escaped the family home. Gavaldon also detailed the steps Boebert has taken to ensure his son is properly supervised at all times.

“Since the last two incidents, he has made every effort to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” Gavaldon said.

On behalf of her son, Lauren Boebert urged the court to impose a sentence that would allow her son to continue working and providing for his child. The Republican congresswoman currently represents Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District but previously resided in Rifle, where she represented the Third Congressional District.

In addressing the Garfield County court on Thursday, Tyler Boebert apologized for his actions and said he accepted responsibility for the consequences.

“Rebuilding trust takes time and consistent action,” Boebert said. “My goal moving forward is to become a more dependable father.”

Deputy District Attorney Sarah Nordgaard urged the court to impose a jail sentence.

In addition to jail time, Myer ordered Boebert to complete a life skills class and two years of supervised probation.

This does not conclude Tyler Boebert’s entanglement with the law. In August, prosecutors also charged Boebert with three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after he was accused of posting sexually explicit pictures of a then-17-year-old in 2024 during a time that overlaps with the identity theft conviction.

Hadn’t even done his 20 days for his other crimes, did more crimes, got punished with additional zero days!

    What a glorious system!

I’m less interested in the punishment than in if he’ll ever do it again. And to be honest, this is about how the criminal justice goes all the time. A ton of non-drug crimes really do slip through and never get dealt with or the indicted never shows up to their trial. It really doesn’t sound like he got any special treatment.

Mark my words, by 2037, this dickhead will be King-President and CEO of Buckee’s presents, the Ungay Confederate States of American-Patriotopia Freedom Village.

The rebuilt east wing of the white house is now a vape store that sells cigar shaped vapes - The flavors they sell are “Cigar” “Ranch” “Ranch Cigar” and “Ivermectin”.

“Congress” is just an LLM trained on the McDonalds app and epstein’s hard drives.

The supreme court is roseanne, as well as three AI agents modeled on Roseanne (each controlled by a different oligarch’s company), whichever of elon’s kids grow up to be just like him and an AI of a cowboy hat from “yellowstone” with a bullet hole in it.

The only late night show left is called, “Baron @ Night”. The house band is Ed Sheeran.

I would good pay money to watch voters in her current district and MTG’s race to solve basic challenges or defend basic ideas/beliefs they have.
