      DPRK century let’s goooo.

Also, OOP chose a really terrible color scheme for poll results. Purple and blue are hard to distinguish.

I feel like I’m starting to develop an actual hatred for people who hate AI. I’m not proud of it, but the feeling is there. I’ve always tried to be understanding of the visceral reactions, be diplomatic about the nuances of it, and too many times it is the same damn conversation with the same hypercharged intensity and I feel obligated to be the patient communist trying to explain in the face of people’s impotent rage and insulting stereotypes. It’s like an Eternal September but for trying to frame AI holistically in the context of systems of power instead as binary good/bad.

I’ve started a different tactic. “AI isn’t going anywhere. You can hate it all you like but you have no power to get rid of it. Even if the majority of people hated AI (they don’t) the rich people who hold all the power love AI and would never let you take it away from them. Your dislike of AI is irrelevant because you are impotent.”

It is the silesian weavers smashing the automated looms in a fit of rage come again.

And yes- mass produced textile work was of lower quality and less aesthetically pleasing than what lacemakers, tailors, rug makers, etc… could produce- some might have even called it „slop“

        silesian weavers

This metaphor doesn’t really work because the looms were not weapons systems spying on and targeting the workers, like AI is.

Fair, though tbh, if it was more literally like that, I would at least respect the fact that they’re taking direct action to protect their livelihoods. This seems to be more so people getting mad on the internet and thinking they can cyberbully AI back into the box. At least silesian weavers smashing automated looms contains some implicit understanding of “means of production”.

So, today my cult (Jehovah’s Witnesses) has updated its policy on blood. Context: no blood transfusions were allowed, even if life was at risk, even if it was a kid about to die. Now people can accept blood fractions (plasma, white cells etc.). Still no whole blood.

Long story short, thousands of people – including children – died for absolutely nothing. Zero apologies.

    Yay. /s

It’s a good thing this cult has so much real estate investments. Hopefully when the bubble pops they will lose their share. Unfortunately, I’m not holding my breath for that.

While this isn’t to the same extreme, that sounds like what my cult (mormonism) did with garments. You previously weren’t allowed to have bare shoulders, and those who did were very looked down upon. Now they released a sleeveless garment. All of those years of shame for nothing.

that’s tough. recently, they did something similar by allowing beards for men and pants for women at meetings.

I don’t know if it’s due to the culture here in Brazil, but personally I never saw women here caring too much about the clothing standards. Even when scolded.

Frankly, I think this cult (and maybe yours too) is gonna become a social club. it’s still pretty harmful for LGBTQIA+ folks and minors, change to the blood doctrine notwithstanding.

    Conspiracy theory:

US and China are in a relatively unknown (still relatively public especially with recent news) anti-satellite missile program race. The balloons you saw was practicing the return of modern observation balloons when satellites are taken out. Both nations have had space weapons since likely the early 2000s, with America having a lead in terms of “years” (likely had some in the 80s/90s) but eventually was worried enough about being surpassed that they are publicly mongering about it now.

Context: met this wonderful lady who i really like, but unfortunately [for me] she’s already married

It feels wierd to like…recognize that this isn’t a problem, that she’s nice and we’re friends and from what i can tell she’s a good mom and her kid is gonna be great, but to still be a little subconsciously miffed at the universe in general because like…it felt like being teased is all.

It’s just an emotion, ill get over it, and to repeat I’m not actually mad, just “primally” [for lack of a better word currently] jealous and annoyed

Does anyone else think that Trump has an israeli virus on his phone to convince him he is talking to people that he isn’t talking to? like when he dreamed up a conversation with Modi or when he thinks he is talking with Iranians or Yemenis.

I am going through the painful experience of buying a mop and bucket under capitalism.

Every store has a single brand for all your cleaning needs, that all work with their own proprietary system so you need Brand™ System™ refills or Brand™ compatible handles. I thought I finally had one that is ‘just a mop’ but the squeeze for the bucket ‘that came free’ was made too small for the same brand’s mop head and it will break in one more use and barely worked. I will have some plastic waste that will outlive humans on my hands.

I just want a fucking mop that goes on a fucking handle that can go in a fucking bucket to mop some fucking floors. Capitalism is hell. I refuse to participate in this, and will never order online for the same thing. So its an ongoing mission to just find a damn thing in this damn country that hasn’t been captured.

The last toaster I bought was the most expensive one I have ever bought and it didn’t toast evenly out of the box. Brand new and I have to flip the bread half way through. 2 hours of wages for it.

I remember I discovered that plural people exist through a really transphobic greentext of someone creating a Stalin tulpa. That was a really long time ago.

Sometimes I wonder how I would be if I didn’t have so much random knowledge made by fascists stored in my brain due to the internet.

Another day, another psychiatrist defeated /s.

Back to needing to find a new psych because they keep not listening to me discussing my conditions and just assume their own thing. Getting tired of having to go through this time and time again. Gotta love capitalist healthcare education.

Spent ~$50 bucks on a school transit card that’s supposed to allow me to use the bus as much as I want. I’m short by 1 unit, so now my eligibility is terminated. Can’t even get the 50 back lol.

Email the person responsible for managing the school transit cards and if they haven’t replied in like a week and a half or two weeks, do a follow up email. They should be able to fix the termination if you bug them enough about it and maybe get you a refund.

At least in the United States, if you email university officials they will eventually get back to you and usually fix your problems.

The thing that makes me laugh most is him saying “I’m not complicit.” So he is recognizing there is a crime being done against the Palestinians but he is insisting that silencing people speaking out against the crime does not make him party to the crime. He is admitting he knows what he is doing is wrong.
