1. Promoting your work is fine. But it depends on the content of the work and it shouldn’t be spam. Expanding on the latter, if promoting your work is the only thing you do, it will be viewed as unconstructive.
2. Because the current moderation load is not too much, we are lax in allowing leftists. If the belief system is inconducive to our community then that is taken care of later through interactions by users, mods and admins. Of course we don’t allow users that are fascist, terminally liberal, racist, queerphobic etc. if we can gleam that from the registration application.
3. Just hang around and talk to other users. That’s what the place is for. I don’t have any specific recommendations for first steps.

1. I think advertising is against the rules, but I doubt it will be a problem if you keep it relevant and understated.

2. Lemmygrad.ml is Marxist-Leninist, but allows those sympathetic to ML to join and learn. Demonizing socialist states or supporting liberalism is against the rules. Hexbear.net is more of a left-unity space, but it maintains similar rules against demonizing socialism and supporting liberalism.

3. You’ll be fine. I do recommend reading up on Marxism-Leninism, though.

1. Yes, you can. How well or terribly your books will be received is on the readers.

2. Lemmygrad is generally a server for Marxist communities. The big tent anti-capitalist server is Hexbear.net.

3. Do whatever you want. Yap in the threads or publish 10,000-word essays in an appropriate comm.

I mention that I cannot stand abuses, including verbal. I understand we are fighting against monsters, but we don’t have to become like them. We can show them justice and grace correlate.

Though if somebody from outside the instance comes in and says something reactionary, they may get dunked on a bit, along with probably getting infodumped on with lots of sources and analysis about why precisely they’re wrong. So just know that you can report a post if somebody is being awful to you, but I also suggest reading the content of the rule and what it means in context.

If you’re unsure of how to proceed, there’s no harm in lurking to get a feel for the culture before posting much. Or you can just dive right in. If you aren’t a marxist-leninist or don’t know what that means, you might end up posting some takes that receive detailed corrections from others, but try to take it as a shared learning experience in the spirit of rule 3. Unless somebody is making it personal, it’s probably not personal.

1. I don’t know what the site policy is but i for one don’t mind as long as it stays in the appropriate coms. Just don’t spam where it does’t belong.

2. Mostly open to all Marxists. ML is preferred. The main thing is that you do not engage in anti-communism or other reactionary behavior and are comprehensively anti-imperialist.

3. Just read posts and comment when you feel like it or have questions. If you find something interesting to share, feel free to do so.

4. We do not tolerate verbal abuse of comrades so you need not worry. Only libs, fascists and imperialism apologists get rightfully dunked on.

Regarding number 2:

When Lemmygrad was started in 2020, I remember there being a focus on allowing only specifically Marxist-Leninists through (I think this was partly in response to the great amount of “left unity” spaces back then, which I personally didn’t like too much, hence why I am still here).

Nowadays, I think that has changed somewhat (mods can correct me here) and other Marxists or other leftists or I guess what we might call “fellow travelers” are allowed through.

That said, I think the primary aim or focus is mainly for Marxist-Leninist, but the rules are more lax now.

I think that generally, at least in the past, we made sure that any Maoists weren’t allowed. That may be different now, but the rules generally state that we are against right-deviationism.I believe that Maoism or any anti-China/Vietnam/Cuba/Laos/DPRK sentiment is still generally frowned upon and therefore not allowed (dunno if specific individual Maoists are allowed here though as exceptions now, idk).

Also, it goes without saying, but: MAGA coms (“MAGA communists” lol) and anyone associated with the ACP (American Communist Party) fascists in the United States of America are NOT welcome here. Honestly, it is probably still the same for any “orbiter” or I guess follower or fan of the ACP.

Honestly, I think I wouldn’t even call them “right-deviationists”; they are just fascists, imho, and I think feds too.

If someone here likes and is a fan of, say, Haz, Eddie Liger, Richie Kray / Noah Khrachvik, any other Midwestern Marx folks, Jackson Hinkle, Caleb Maupin (not as big now but might as well mention him), I guess any of the other PatSocs or MAGA coms that I’m forgetting, etc. then they will be banned, afaik.

Tl;dr:

I think you’re fine, we generally prefer Marxist-Leninists and generally ones that aren’t ultras or reactionaries (the “Shit Ultras / Reactionaries Say” threads being an example of this), and we definitely don’t like ACP people or orbiters around here. I think you can be here if you just want to learn though. :)

I agree on the verbal abuse thing. Language can be a bit strong here, tbh, but I do see your point.

Lemmygrad is a place where we talk about revolution. Having your name and your book connected to those types of statements is not a great idea.

Honestly you’re going to either learn a lot quickly or you aren’t going to last here. You aren’t going to get banned for having thoughts but if you are being reactionary or overtly liberal you aren’t going to make friends.

We believe the primary contradiction is Imperialism. We do believe that exploitation and capitalism must end but we know that any headway on that front is ephemeral and unsustainable as long as imperialism exists. Being anti-capitalist is cool but if you want real results you need a systemic approach or you are just wasting effort.

For the most part I think we are all revolutionary Marxist Leninist here. We are pretty strict on Dialectical Materialism. Idealism and electoralism aren’t “forbidden” but those modes of thinking you aren’t going to go over well.
