It’s everything. I bounced off cos it was said there’s lots of random side stuff and usually I hate that but even the fucking squatting mini game is fun. Everything about this game is perfect, combat is addictive, mini games are all solid, it’s camp and goofy as all hell, characters are baller, cutscenes are baller.
For someone who never really jived with the original this really lets me appreciate what it had going on by wrapping it in a genuinely fun experience that just doesn’t seem to get boring or even stumble in pacing.
its one of the worse games of all time for me. Original ff7 is one of my top 10 easily. I think the remake ruins absolutely all of the emotional beats of the original and also de-emphasizes the soundtrack a lot.
I played like 80% of this game at a friend’s house a while ago, I loved, no joke probably one of the best ever. I finally got it on steam deck as well as the second one and I don’t want repeat them. Is there se cheat code that will skip me to where I left off?
Only thing I can think of is finding a save file to get you close to where you were. Cheats were destroyed by woke :(
A lot of nerds will provide a save file for each chapter with like all items and stuff
I loved it too. I didn’t have super high expectations, but it absolutely blew me away. Helps that I really enjoyed the original - a game where you play as an ecoterrorist that starts with you and your allies bombing a power plant is absolutely made for me. I really should get the second one, I’ve heard good things.
I enjoyed the first disc of the original and I love how even though it’s totally overhauled I get excited to see bits I remember renewed. I’m looking forward to playing the second because that part of the game I didn’t enjoy as much from the original it’s where the game got frustrating and a bit of a drag for me.
Makes sense. Disc 1 is a really focused, tight experience, but from disc 2 on you get access to the world map and suddenly you’re just kinda wandering all over the planet. Disc 1 is easily the strongest section of the game.
I both love and hate it which I will infodump about in a post once I’ve finished Rebirth.

My only complaint with the first one is that I don’t like the pacing. Segments of the game that were quicker before get drawn out much longer than they should be. I have zero complaints about the minigame content, it’s shit sidequests that lead to a chest with some item I don’t really want or need but do just for the sake of my obsessive completionism that bothers me. A lot of that is filler.
Part of the issue is that the original game has perfect pacing.
Anyway I have heard that if you do this in the second game (rebirth) you will burn out so I’m sort of worried about whether that will happen. I have so far not touched Rebirth for basically that reason. I’ll get round to it eventually.
I tried getting into this game, but I couldn’t. I got the original on android and lost interest, sadly.

I love this game. I love the sequel. I know a lot of people hate it, but it’s probably one of my favorite games ever. It’s like they made it for me.
I never played FF7 but somehow in the late 90s or early 2000s I heard an orchestrated version of the main theme and it is probably the prettiest video game music of all time. That is a hill I’ll die on.

FF7 Remake is easily one of my favorite games of all-time. Probably in the top 10 no problem. It had great story, excellent gameplay, and wonderful graphics. I’ve played through it roughly 3 or 4 times since it released. I highly recommend it to people whose interests might even closely align with what the game has to offer.
FF7 Rebirth though? I’m much less fond of it. Way too much open world bloat in that one. I’ve yet to finish it because the place that reminds me of Thousand Needles is just fucking awful and I can’t push past that area.
I opted to watch a let’s play since I already know the original and don’t have a playstation and it kept blowing me away how much love was put into every single aspect. I’m really interested to see what they do with the other games in the remake series just to see how they adapt everything from the original
