They never got to the installation stage because they couldn’t agree on the distro
this is sick. I’m saving this for later.
Fancy gaming debian (with openbox) here I come.
Huh! That’s wild. How have I never heard of this?
I’ve frankensteined distros before, but without the help of Bedrock. An employer asked what OS I’d like on my work laptop and I asked for a Linux system, but of course they didn’t offer me my choice of distro or anything. It came with KDE Neon. I wanted to run Artix and I wasn’t going to let UEFI Secure Boot stop me even if the PC Support department wouldn’t share the BIOS password. Now, KDE Neon uses the Ubuntu kernel, and it booted on the laptop in question, so I knew the secure boot trusted the signature on the official Ubuntu kernel. But Artix uses the Arch kernel which isn’t signed at all, so the laptop wouldn’t boot that. So I made a PKGBUILD that would download the Ubuntu kernel .deb file from the official Ubuntu repository, unzip the .deb file, and build an Arch/Artix package containing the kernel image and initramfs and CPU microcode and such. The result was a system that was entirely Artix except that it used the Ubuntu kernel. Worked perfectly. I’m sure the folks at PC Support were confused when an Artix box showed up on their Nessus asset management software.
“But we didn’t give anyone an Artix box!” “Life… uh, finds a way.”
huh TIL bedrock
Made me chuckle right after I woke up. Great start to the day. Closing Lemmy on a high note.
Is there a version of this with, you know, just one more space in the text? You know where.
I use Linuxon btw
Not sure what you mean. I don’t see an issue with the spacingon this meme
Is c/keming a thing?
I reckon it’s a reference to Linuxon
They know, reread their comment.
Ah yeah I see haha
LinuxON Operating Nystem
Would these guys peck at you?
New fear unlocked. thank you
If that’s a real photo, I have to know more about it!
Probably fake. Only found 2 links back to some sort of original post, one to x and one to Facebook and both had some bs story to go with it. I did find a 10 second clip on YouTube to some bullshit music and some motion, but idk.
I mean, who leaves their tent open in the Antarctic?
You are probably right, but just as a fun fact; Penguins exist far outside Antarctica:

Those look like emperor penguins, though, which are actually endemic to Antarctica.
I guess that proves the fakeness then though because emperor penguins usually stand around 4 feet in height.
But Australia would be even worse!
Have you seen Australians?
Huh, I didn’t know that. Thanks!
There is a great show about penguins in south africa, called Penguin Town. Highly recommend!
Thanks! Gonna watch it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penguin_Town
I mean, who leaves their tent open in the Antarctic?
Not saying it’s real, but… Someone who wants to take a photo like this? In the summer (which it would be since it’s light out) it’s not thaaat cold near the coast. Maybe -10 C, but probably more like +5 these days, sometimes much warmer. Additionally, for a single-walled tent, ventilation is extremely important or else moisture build up will condense on the tent and get you wet, which you really don’t want when it’s cold.
Me, whenever someone’s not asleep or asleep
Upgrade his workstation Rico!
And what about me, skipper? 🐧
This is wholesome!
I wonder how it feels to hold a penguin.
If this is biggest danger of Antartica, book me a flight.
But then there is the obligation of preemptive apendectomy in order to go to Antarctica. And I try to avoid being stabed to life as I can possibly manage.
I think there might be a few other risks, like say, freezing to death.
If that is what it takes to have my devices hacked and installed with Linux by penguins, that is a risk I’m willing to take.
Pretty sure that requirement is slightly overblown, just don’t travel near the winter months and you’re likely fine.
Also, afaik, it only applies to the doctors, because if someone else gets appendicitis, the doctor can remove it. And while a non-zero number of doctors have removed their own appendix, it’s not really medically recommended.
OK, but which distro?
Hannah Montana Linux of course
Gentoo. It is, after all, the fastest penguin.
“Mother of god” - must be TempleOS
TempleOS is not Linux
gnu is not Unix
TempleOS is neither
