Human society developed and flourished because of cooperation. This whole individualism bullshit is relatively modern and is obviously leading to the downfall of humanity rather than furthering it

Infanticide was common in prehistoric humans, not as a “culling the weak” thing, but as an alternative to abortion to ensure there were enough resources to ration among existing members of their community. And archaeological evidence suggests they didn’t have the heart to bludgeon them or anything; they just left newborns they couldn’t afford off in the wilderness

Food rationing was the norm in ancient humans. Especially among our sub-species, the homo sapien, even moreso than extinct human sub-species like homo neanderthal. Elderly and disabled members of one’s community would almost always be taken care of

It’s not that americans don’t care for their sick, it’s that americans are punished for taking care of their sick. With the exception of those rich enough to travel the world, nearly every american has gone through hell and back to care for their sick and disabled family members. That’s also why churches are so prominent here. I’ve known many people personally who have tried to leave their church over and over again, but they can’t because that is the only form of support they can get. and they can’t speak out against policy the church opposes because that will lose them their support.

And this is intentional. I’ve spent enough time doing mutual aid work to know the stages. Mutual aid exists -> gets large enough to be noticed -> church opens a charity which has the capital to offer better aid to more people -> mutual aid is no longer needed and shuts down -> church begins putting conditions such as attending mass, disposing of self medication, disposing of already scant property -> when people are stable enough to barely get by the church pulls the rug on assistance, unless they are “in good standing” meaning that they are giving tithes to the church. -> church run work houses.

This is why so many theorists keep saying that america doesn’t have a proletariat, it’s all lumpenproles.
