I wouldnt say a majority but yeah there are a lot of trek fans who are were also pulling the “why you gota make everything political!” card . Nothing really tops the poop whirlpool that was the last jedi fallout.
I think the only ones who wouldn’t inherently trust a Star Trek fan over a Star Wars fan are the Child Exploitation Section of the Toronto Sex Crimes Unit circa 2005.
