    All you need to do is send them more personal data to confirm it is really you. Then they will delete it all, promise.

    Lol. No, they can’t. They can request that their data be deleted in one request. They can’t actually go delete the data from all the servers and backups from all those websites and companies. They can’t verify that anyone else has done that. They can’t verify that even if they theoretically have it doesn’t work like the systems where things are just flagged as redacted or edited out.

    For the statement they make to be true this would a thing with an overseeing body with enough power to ensure that all companies and websites store their data in the same way or with perfect knowledge and access to that data and all backups and the ability to fully wipe any data or backup data tied to a given name, email address, social security number, and whatever selection of browser and device fingerprints the user could supply and ensure that data was unrecoverable.

    I can make something way better than this. Since any folk requesting that are concerned with places keeping their data, they wouldn’t even have to give their name let alone any other personal information. It would just be a very pleasing and official looking button, and when they click it there would be a reassuring popup informing them that:

    “Success! Your request for every other person, company, website, UFO, talking animal, or fantasy creature who may be spying on you in this entire universe and any potential alternate universe to immediately stop doing that and delete any information they may have collected has been sent!”

    It would be pretty much just as effective and universally (multiversally?) legally relevant as this is.

    Here is my question.

    How does this affect LLMs. Because as I understand it, once they are trained, you cannot just, “deletr the data out.”

      I’m pretty sure as much as possible if our data is being collected, too.

      The fact that it’s not as fucked up as in the states is little protection, just look at how chat control got shoved up our bums.

      Laughing at America is a splendid cynical feel-good distraction, but let’s not kid ourselves and fight for every bit of privacy they are going to try their hardest to wrest away.

        I feel like America holds the world back largely by it being so simple for other places to say, “At least we’re not like them.”

        Most obvious in any discussion of racism in Latin America.

        GDPR already allows us to delete data with just a request, which is what the comment you’re refering to references.

    How about shipping them from gathering the data to begin with?

    Because I guarafuckingtee you that those deletion promises are exactly that: promises. They’ll tag your data as “deleted” and simply continue using it anyway

    I don’t think this is quite as easy as everyone thinks. They do this in Tennessee but it only works for situations that almost never apply.

    I’m looking for a job. I’m pretty sure it won’t make a difference if I just post my CV publicly on Facebook or CraigsList at this point. Seeing how many AI rejections I have gotten, I’m sure every major tech company knows all my details by now.

      Oh yeah… There are like only a couple companies that handle the background profiling of candidates, this was true even before AI, but now they use AI as part of those systems. Once you are rated by them once, that’s it. They just will reuse that profile and you will be ignored in all future postings if the profile isn’t “desirable” based off their metrics.

      I highly recommend you find someone who professionally assists people create CVs and applications that understands how modern AI applications work. They will know how to refashion everything so your application looks new to the AI and will give you tips to game the AI.

      They will probably charge like $250 for the help, but it will be well worth it. If you have any colleges, especially community colleges near you, they might offer this service for free to basically anyone in state.

          Must be nice being in a place where you can be picky about what job you take. I’ve been unemployed for over 12 months now and would take basically anything at this point regardless of my morals.
