A bunch of American companies told a bunch of boomers who know nothing about PCs a bunch of technobabble about China “hacking the mainframe” through electronic parts and has pressured the EU to ban them so they can claim to fill the gap and profit. They will then get very expensive contracts and only product 25% of what they promised in twice the time. The EU’s response will be to sanction even more Chinese products.
it’s ok, they’ll plug the gap with israeli equipment, because there’s no fears about cybersecurity there
We just love replicating all of the USes Ls after everyone knows that they were obvious failures.
What are the possible “cybersecurity” fears over power inverters, which IIRC are pretty purely “dumb” electric circuits?
Everything is a computer
The last time this made the rounds it was about the kind you install for solar on your roof. Typically the Chinese ones are cloud connected and either need that to function or need it to be convenient (meaning to get any information/statistics out of them).

Not true, many models don’t need that to work. Maybe Huawei does, but cheaper brands like Deye or EASun normally don’t require cloud connection.

“But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power inverters!”
Sheer “can do” attitude!
Hubris and arrogance mostly
How could anyone win a trade war against the place where they make things?
