This is kind of strange for me to see, because there are so many people that buy Teslas in Norway. I think it’s the most popular car, the one that sold the most this year, and it was actually an increase from last year. So people are still buying Teslas, even if they know about that fascist Hitler salute thing with Elon.

There’s a lot of people wearing specifically American cultural clothes here (NY hats, t-shirts with the US flag or names of baseball teams on them, lots of the motorbike helmets are available with American movie references on them)

I think that US propaganda has worked very well here in the past, and all of the fuckups are sufficiently far away that most people don’t care about them at all.

Your username and avatar gave me a good chuckle. Made me think of the “how do you know someone is vegan? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.” joke. I do hope you’re actually vegan though, and it’s not some shitty parody (I never go and look through peoples comments, just feels shitty, so I don’t know).

I’ve travelled out of the country a few times under Trump’s rule. I bet clearly make my opinions if Trump known, and can usually find a common ground with the people in interacting with.

Like, wouldn’t travel to the middle east and try to play that game, but most people are pretty reasonable and understanding, especially if you’re in a touristy area where the economy is almost entirely based on you spending money.

Just try not to draw attention to yourself, be respectful, and talk shit about Trump and his band of merry racist cunts if needed.

If we’re talking about actions that fucked up the world, pretty much all of western Europe should still be bearing that cross. On the other hand, we could just acknowledge it’s probably pretty low IQ and bigoted to take out your impotent rage at a state on regular people who have very little if anything to do with it.

That said, it doesn’t really matter that much, because as the other guy said, outside of the Internet most real people don’t actually care that much. Probably because they managed to realize the above.

I just got back from running around town (our tiny Canadian village has a garage sale day today) and saw a trump hat at one of them for sale for 5 bucks.

I thought it amusing that they didn’t want it anymore but still think it’s worth something.

Then again they WERE also selling a 1960’s style stationary bike for $40 bucks while just down the street was a newer one for free with a digital display.

It will require, to be specific, generational change. The people alive now are a lost cause as far as the USA is concerned. Most of them will not turn back into if not fans at least tolerant of the USA. The damage was deep, personal, and it will take a full generation that was not alive while the Redcaps ran the USA into the ground before there will be any substantial reversal.

I’m an American and I also have an unfavorable view of the USA

Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t hate America. I’m not unhappy in America. My day-to-day life in America is not bad at all

It’s just, there are a lot of idiots here and it’s exhausting being surrounded by them

Like I turn on my TV and I see a commercial for “Patriot Glasses”. They are, “Tactical Sunglasses” and the advertisement claims that Navy Seals and shit use them so if you’re a real Patriot you need them too. And the commercial is a guy driving his truck through the mud and shit… just idiot shit for idiot people and damn, it sucks there’s enough idiots like that out there that somebody is marketing products like this to them

The World Cup is on Fox and there are commercials featuring that UFC guy talking about how America is bad ass because we’re loud and say what we want to say because we’re not pansies… it’s absurd. Makes me wonder if people in England turn on the TV and see a guy dressed like a Red Coat talking about how bad ass it is to be Posh before he tries to sell you the Queens Tea Cups or whatever

Nope. Mostly gambling adverts. Every other advert, some cuntrag gambling company.

Why aren’t you gambling? It’s easy, we have an app for it so you can do it on the sly and everything. Do it. Gamble now, all your friends are doing it. Look at all these joyous people gambling, don’t you want to be like them? Gamble now!

Not interested. Will never be interested. The more I get advertised a thing, the less interested I get; one of the few useful artefacts of my spergness. Advertising genuinely doesn’t have the desired affect on me, it just annoys me and I mentally blacklist any product that advertises at me. The entire advertising industry is a cancer on humanity as far as I’m concerned. A net drain of resources that serves bo purpose other than to prop up the throwaway consumerism that’s destroying the only place in the universe known for certain to support life.

      Fuck all that shit.

My unsupported theory as to what might be going on here with Vietnam, India, and Philippines, is that people consider the USA as a nice migration destination.

There are large asian migrant communities in the US, probably most people in those three countries would have a direct contact or even relative who lives in the US. They would see pictures of them and hear about life in the US and perceive it to be better than their own.

Most people here reading this question think about politics, but plenty of people living in the Philippines unable to buy fuel or gas due to shortages, who would still think “favourably” of the US.
