TIL: Norwegians are decisive people.
This is kind of strange for me to see, because there are so many people that buy Teslas in Norway. I think it’s the most popular car, the one that sold the most this year, and it was actually an increase from last year. So people are still buying Teslas, even if they know about that fascist Hitler salute thing with Elon.
same in Australia, fuck my fellow Australians
Norway and Sweden having the two highest shares of unfavorable views warmed my heart.
Hey Vietnam, are you alright? 😵
What having a border with china does to a mfer
Taiwan also tries to play nice with the US to survive.
There’s a lot of people wearing specifically American cultural clothes here (NY hats, t-shirts with the US flag or names of baseball teams on them, lots of the motorbike helmets are available with American movie references on them)
I think that US propaganda has worked very well here in the past, and all of the fuckups are sufficiently far away that most people don’t care about them at all.
This one tripped me up, because my friends were there around 10 years ago and they told me their Canadian passport saved them a couple of times from some people being hostile towards Americans.
Your username and avatar gave me a good chuckle. Made me think of the “how do you know someone is vegan? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.” joke. I do hope you’re actually vegan though, and it’s not some shitty parody (I never go and look through peoples comments, just feels shitty, so I don’t know).
I’m vegan, BTW.
I’m afraid to engage in international tourism because the country I’m from, the United States, is a goddamn embarassment, and I’m would be apologizing everywhere I go, and silent otherwise.
The world does not hate those, who are awoken from the american
dreamnightmare. You guys are just victims. We really dislike all the brainrotten dimwits who still love all the shit your elite puppeteers do. And how they destroy the way of living, the internet and…gestures broadly at everything
Just research carefully the country you go to. Some places hate tourists with a passion, some see them with curiosity. The country you come from is usually irrelevant (except if it’s Israel)
We’re about to head out on a trip tomorrow and yeah, it’s kind of embarrassing. We always say we’re from California if asked, because that feels slightly less embarrassing, though the tech bros have now shown their true colors so it’s less effective than it used to be.
You could say you’re from Cascadia and hope they don’t have any follow up questions.
Ever since Trump I, I’ve just replaced “American” with “Cascadian” when referring to myself. Cascadia may not be perfect either, but we’re a damn sight better than *gestures wildly*.
When I speak, I have vague hints of general commonwealth in my accent, cause I’ve always been lowkey ashamed of being here, except now it’s not so lowkey.
I can’t even afford to leave the country on vacation so that eliminates that fear for most of us
I’ve travelled out of the country a few times under Trump’s rule. I bet clearly make my opinions if Trump known, and can usually find a common ground with the people in interacting with.
Like, wouldn’t travel to the middle east and try to play that game, but most people are pretty reasonable and understanding, especially if you’re in a touristy area where the economy is almost entirely based on you spending money.
Just try not to draw attention to yourself, be respectful, and talk shit about Trump and his band of
merryracist cunts if needed.I hold Canadian and American passports and we travel a fair bit. The last time I was treated poorly because someone thought I was American was when GW Bush was President. People are good at separating governments from individuals.
I can confirm that I do not like engaging specifically with Americans. No problem with other tourists/visitors
That’s understandable. A third of us are alright, but that’s not a good number to risk odds on.
Not a third of who I’ve seen
Just pretend to be a canadian, thats what americans did when the US invaded Iraq(it was a very unpopular war for europeans). Honestly most people dont care.
Fuck that.
America has ruined its own reputation, they don’t get to steal my country’s reputation.
How 'bout instead you suck up what you’ve done to the world and face the music. Destroying another country’s reputation with your cuntry’s (sic) shitfuckery is … well, very American.
If we’re talking about actions that fucked up the world, pretty much all of western Europe should still be bearing that cross. On the other hand, we could just acknowledge it’s probably pretty low IQ and bigoted to take out your impotent rage at a state on regular people who have very little if anything to do with it.
That said, it doesn’t really matter that much, because as the other guy said, outside of the Internet most real people don’t actually care that much. Probably because they managed to realize the above.
It’s even lower-IQ to pretend to be another country’s citizen so that you can fuck up their reputation as well.
All y’all fucking Yanks have been doing that in Europe since the '80s. It pissed me off then, and it pisses me off more now.
Nearly nobody actually does it, because nearly nobody cares.
“Y’all” lol.
The Italian prime minister (lowkey fascist) kept trying to establish good relationships with Trump, but even she had to give up with how much of an animal he is, lol
Every Trump supporter who visits Canada should be chastised
they shouldn’t be allowed in. they’re literally enemies of the state.
No, deported to a third country.
North Korea.
Why would you send them to the best korea /s. Because some nutjobs here actually believe this to be the case.
I would send them to the best Korea because I’m a kind-hearted soul who wants to send them to Paradise on Earth.
That’s Israel being the most favourable of America.
And what the fucks with the sexism?
This chart is an inverted ‘quality of life’ chart. Weird, I wonder how that happened…
Spot on!
I just got back from running around town (our tiny Canadian village has a garage sale day today) and saw a trump hat at one of them for sale for 5 bucks.
I thought it amusing that they didn’t want it anymore but still think it’s worth something.
Then again they WERE also selling a 1960’s style stationary bike for $40 bucks while just down the street was a newer one for free with a digital display.
Must been Pete Hoekstra’s red hat after being told to tone down the 51st state rhetoric.
To be fair, the 60’s one probably still kinda works. The digital one is for sure dead.
Maybe lol… I picked up a newer one with the digital pad thingee at a sale for my daughter two years ago, all it needed was new batteries in the head unit. Didn’t look too close at this one, but it looked in really nice shape. Too many people around here seem to buy those things and barely use them.
No Denmark on the graph is disappointing after Trump’s threats to Greenland.
They probably selected where favorable is not 0.
Imagine having a less favorable view of America than Vietnam.
Imagine being Vietnam (with all that happened), and having such a favourable view of America.
ikr? Just shows how much damage MAGA/Republicans have done to the US.
It will take many, many years for the relationship to improve back to how close it was before, if it ever will. How long ago was the Vietnam War? A half century sounds about right…
It will require, to be specific, generational change. The people alive now are a lost cause as far as the USA is concerned. Most of them will not turn back into if not fans at least tolerant of the USA. The damage was deep, personal, and it will take a full generation that was not alive while the Redcaps ran the USA into the ground before there will be any substantial reversal.
Poland, failing again. 55% are fucking idiots, MAGA will abandon your asses if the Russians spill across the border.
Poland and getting shafted continuosly in history is a trend I’m noticing.
Yeah, I’m so disappointed with that score…
I’m an American and I also have an unfavorable view of the USA
Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t hate America. I’m not unhappy in America. My day-to-day life in America is not bad at all
It’s just, there are a lot of idiots here and it’s exhausting being surrounded by them
Like I turn on my TV and I see a commercial for “Patriot Glasses”. They are, “Tactical Sunglasses” and the advertisement claims that Navy Seals and shit use them so if you’re a real Patriot you need them too. And the commercial is a guy driving his truck through the mud and shit… just idiot shit for idiot people and damn, it sucks there’s enough idiots like that out there that somebody is marketing products like this to them
The World Cup is on Fox and there are commercials featuring that UFC guy talking about how America is bad ass because we’re loud and say what we want to say because we’re not pansies… it’s absurd. Makes me wonder if people in England turn on the TV and see a guy dressed like a Red Coat talking about how bad ass it is to be Posh before he tries to sell you the Queens Tea Cups or whatever
Nope. Mostly gambling adverts. Every other advert, some cuntrag gambling company.
Why aren’t you gambling? It’s easy, we have an app for it so you can do it on the sly and everything. Do it. Gamble now, all your friends are doing it. Look at all these joyous people gambling, don’t you want to be like them? Gamble now!
Not interested. Will never be interested. The more I get advertised a thing, the less interested I get; one of the few useful artefacts of my spergness. Advertising genuinely doesn’t have the desired affect on me, it just annoys me and I mentally blacklist any product that advertises at me. The entire advertising industry is a cancer on humanity as far as I’m concerned. A net drain of resources that serves bo purpose other than to prop up the throwaway consumerism that’s destroying the only place in the universe known for certain to support life.
Fuck all that shit.
Seen the one where the guy hears a car alarm chirp and it triggers his gambling impulse? Like, he hadn’t been thinking about it but every day sounds can bring on the urge. That is absolutely advertising an addiction, crazy that this shit is legal, especially given that they get upset with me for using small doses of opiates to get through my day.
As a Canadian who vehemently hates the United States and everything it represents now, I have yet to actually meet anyone who hates the US as much as I do. Most are indifferent.
Canadian here, I live in a big city so my data is probably skewed, but pretty much everyone I know thinks that America (Republican America especially) is a fucking dumpster fire.
Same here, in a country that’s near the bottom. They’ve killed millions over the past half century, and people just don’t care. Then again, I don’t know what “views unfavorably” really means.
Vietnam is on position 4 (consider they were at war 55 years ago), where as most of NATO is at the bottom, even below Russia.
vietnam is pretty friendly of the usa, against china and mostly because of trade and manufactering.
Yah india is another notable but the odds they’d ever actually help America in any way that didn’t benifit them is real low, India likes to stay neutral.
My unsupported theory as to what might be going on here with Vietnam, India, and Philippines, is that people consider the USA as a nice migration destination.
There are large asian migrant communities in the US, probably most people in those three countries would have a direct contact or even relative who lives in the US. They would see pictures of them and hear about life in the US and perceive it to be better than their own.
Most people here reading this question think about politics, but plenty of people living in the Philippines unable to buy fuel or gas due to shortages, who would still think “favourably” of the US.
No it’s because all those countries neighbour china. Being next to china sucks.
Similar number of Americans feel the same
I don’t think most Americans even think about Canada. And the ones who do and actually have a negative view of Canada are probably MAGA of which the rest of us have a negative view of MAGA just like the Canadians do
Edit: I’m a doofus who read this as Americans feel the same way about Canada instead of correctly reading this as most Americans have a negative view of America under Trump
Myself and everyone I know loves Canada. We’d move there if we could. I’ve worked contract jobs with Canadians and we’d spend some meetings just ragging on how much the US sucks and Canada is better.
My fear is that Canada is dangerously close geographically to the asshole that is the US :/

It’s hard to see the flaws of your own country when propaganda is being blasted 24/7 and dissidents are targeted.
I’m not sure what prompted you to respond with this comment
Bottom of the list hell yeah take that world
Very honourable.
This did increase my interest in moving there.
@TheparishofChigwell @Sunshine What’s great with Europeans is that whatever feud you’re having you’ll always find common ground in trashtalking the US
Why would I trash talk though, you are insinuating malicious intent in my reply
I don’t need to exaggerate and you know that perfectly well
I’m more than annoyed by the overbearing American presence in media.
We will lead the free world, that much is clear
@TheparishofChigwell XD chill out comrade I wasn’t talking about you : this is my personal experience, as a French student in Ireland several years ago, an easy way to relate from scratch was to make fun of US douches in pubs
I’m sorry. America has been… Traumatizing. Thanks for being cool
