Yeah. Being woke requires you to be aware of what is happening.

Superman just shows up, and says “TIME TO SAVE PEOPLE!!!”. But he in general doesn’t know anything.

To be woke, he’d need knowledge of WHY the orphanage is on fire. He just happened to be flying around, saw a fire, and saved the orphans.

He’d be much angrier if he knew the orphanage was on fire because state legislatures cut funding to support the orphanage all so some dipship govenor can buy a 6th yacht.

Tweet von @CasioWiser:Anonymous got that woke mind virus @elonmusk Antwort von @YourAnonNews: You fools throw around the word “woke” like it’s some kind of slur, it’s actually quite funny. You probably don’t know the meaning of the word, so let us school your tiny little mind. The word means that we’re alert to social injustices - such as racism and discrimination, that we’re cool with LGBTQ+ rights, we’re aware of economic disparities between the super-rich and working class, and that we’re cool with equal rights for all people. So - when you use it as a slur, we understand that you are against these things - that you are pro racism and discrimination, that you are not ok with LGBTQ+ people and you’re cool with the super-rich raping the working class - and that you’re not ok with equal rights. Don’t hide, just come out and say it - tell everyone you’re a Nazi.

Woke is a brilliant and evil political manipulation tool. As a conservative politician, you never have to state a position on any topic anymore. You just say you’re against all the woke stuff and your captive idiots just assume you agree with them. They hear exactly what they want to hear.

The unemployed auto sector worker believes “woke” means Chinese EVs.

The bigots believe “woke” means allowing gay people to exist.

The wealthy believe “woke” means making rich people like them actually pay taxes.

It’s a shortcut around actually saying anything of substance. You can get two people whose agendas are completely opposed to both believe that you are on their side because they both accept that “woke” means the thing they hate. And since you just said that you hate “woke”, then you hate the same thing they do so they will support you through anything now.

My one critique on this countermovement is, I don’t like saying “It’s not woke!” Of course it’s woke - woke is a good thing. Woke means “I GET how shit is.”

The implied words by these grifters have been “woke…and being super naggy and preachy about it, and making all white men feel bad.” When I watch a movie like Django Unchained, and see a former slave slaughtering a bunch of slavers, I don’t feel preached to. I don’t get a sense it’s trying to make me feel bad. I just think: Yeah, man, fuck these slavers. I resolve to make the next generation better than them. And also: I’m glad this slight poetic statement on slavery was wrapped into a tense, action-packed, entertaining movie.

They tried this shit with feminism, diversity, equal opportunity, and every other word and term we like. Always inventing some context where all of them are bad. I don’t much like the retreat of saying “No no, this media isn’t woke!” Of course it’s woke! And that’s a good thing! People who hated “woke” need to take the L and wake up.

They were never gonna like an adaptation of Superman that was true to the source material. Of course Superman is woke. That’s always been the point of Superman.

Im sorry, darling, but he is first and foremost a fighter of crime… like any other super hero. And who fights crime? Cops. Superheroes are supercops.

And lets not forget that he is a tool of american imperialism and american exceprionalism. Nothin’ woke 'bout that.

The police use fighting crime as a pretext for the protection of capital and the oppression of minorities, their actual functions.

I agree with that, but this pretext is the reality in superhero stories. Cops are portrayed as the good guys, and superheroes collaborate with them if anything.

Cops and superheroes share this; They fight crime. And so if we imagine a child reading superhero comics, they will most likely think; I also want to fight crime! And who in our society fights crime? It’s the cops.

Superheroes are a constructed reality to turn children into cops.

Woke means “aware of systemic inequality”. It’s been part of the English language for a hundred years, and the definition hasn’t shifted much.

When a Republican says they’re “anti-woke”, they mean that they are in favor of hiding systemic inequality, because they want to preserve it. They’re usually using the word correctly, even though they’ve failed to define it explicitly.

That’s because the current iteration of Republicans rely on a perceived system of social hierarchies. There are in groups and out groups. The quiet part out loud is that inequality is the outcome being sought not some unfortunate byproduct of the system they intend to implement.

Okay I’m a geek but sometimes I think ‘what would Superman think?’. And usually leads to a better outcome. Okay to be fair never done it myself, but I thought of it often when some democratic country made decisions and … What with the big S think? I would not want to be on the side of that ‘democratic’ country, and lets me understand their actions suck balls.

Yes I know it’s fiction but when the best hero you can think of does the opposite of some country’s actions, what can you think of such country?

Truth, justice, the American Way. Used to mean something, now that t means, I got mine have fun getting yours.

See, that’s the secret. Truth and Justice were always a fairy story sold to keep the workers working, it’s always been about the rich and powerful getting theirs and fuckin’ keeping it that way, for the entire 250 years.

It didn’t suddenly become what it is, it suddenly became a lot less subtle about it. Trump is a braggart above almost all else, he can’t help but prop up his fragile ego whenever the chance arises. Thus, what used to go unsaid is now, “Look what I did!, Look, please! Tell me how clever I am, please Mommy!”

The reason they don’t like it is because they’re the ones responsible for the systematic injustices, and they’re in denial about it.
