Some types of harm that are caused or enabled by cars which are often overlooked:

    • Children left in a hot car.
    • Making it relatively easy to move a body in secret enables many murders.
    • Cars create many occasions where strangers come into protracted isolated contact with each other. Things like cab drivers. Individuals in broken down cars on lonely roads. Prostitutes getting into cars. It enables a lot of serial killer shit.

I can see the benefit to making these kinds of private spaces more accessible, however.

Homeless people who have a car can have shelter.

Young adults can have a private space away from family our housemates.

In places where housing is ridiculously expensive, these can be important things.

      More:

      • Traffic stops provide an easy ‘probable cause’ to start an interaction to harass and target minorities and the poor.
      • Vehicles enable ICE terror tactics.

I appreciate the alternate hosting link, but it doesn’t address the primary issue:

Lists work best in text format, and there’s no reason not to include a text list with your video unless your real goal is to force people to watch the video.

I have no reason to think @hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com is the Not Just Bikes guy, and it’s not reasonable to expect a random third party who posted a video they happened to find interesting to write out a list summarizing it for you. So first of all, knock it off with the uncalled-for accusations of shilling, and second, summarize the thing yourself if you feel that strongly about it!

People who make videos often want you too watch them. That’s not really surprising. They may want to make money that way (because they like money or because that’s the only way to produce high quality videos) and/or genuinely believe that video is the best way to get their point across.

If you’re interested in a written list of the points that’s understandable, but there are more polite ways to ask for that.

edit: there’s even a list in the video description…
