UK (and Australia) are long standing allies of the US, with complex economic and military ties.
Say what you will about that relationship, but it shouldn’t be surprising that the UK PM’S response is measured.
No one’s surprised that the UK, Australia, etc. are upholding imperialism, the point is that that’s bad.
My point is, everyone is “upholding imperialism” in the same way and its daft to expect the UK and Aus to be first to denounce it.

You might want to take a look at who “everyone” is who upholds imperialism. I think you’ll notice a certain… pattern. There’s even a helpful map another user posted above in this thread.
