I don’t know why they use some weird AI generated mock up of some design. 😑
Here’s a link to an article with actual picture, which looks nothing like the one here.
Better link. Thanks.
you can edit it
Good catch.
Can’t get too green
*A company in Sweden bolts some old wind turbine blades onto the outside of a parking garage
It’s A.I. generated. The article shows the realm image, which has nothing to do with this.
“That probably add structure, sun blocking, wind cutting and visual appeal to the building” – added a person who wasn’t salty about reusing materials.
I mean no.
This means they do not carry the building’s weight, but they wrap around it and protect it from wind and rain.
Article covered that. And it’s got lots of gaps, maybe half the vehicles would be protected, but if you’re worried about that, you just don’t park on the exterior.
I’m salty about poorly written, sensationalist greenwashing headlines.
I assume the entire country of Sweden didn’t construct this building, or the entire city of Lund for that matter. If anything, the headline should name the architect and/or design company.
And this is basically just using waste material as decoration, about as functional as if you hung it up on your wall at home.
Yeah, they should toss it in a landfill like everyone else! Fucking posers, trying to do literally anything with stuff that isn’t easily recycled or reused…
That just looks like joints and some extra weed, right?
I can’t be the only one that sees that.
You are not the only one
It looks nice, but I guess it’s more of an architectural statement than anything else.
Goddam that looks ugly, and it seems to serve no purpose, as they are just put on the outside of the building.
ACTUAL image, not the stupidly unrelated image thumbnail from the article:

OK that’s much much better. 👍
To add to the criticism, they are also not even remotely to scale. They are only about 10 meters in the picture. They are usually at least 3x as long (for old wind turbines) and about 8x as long for modern ones.
A story is 12 feet, roughly, or 3.5m roughly. That means the building at 5-6 stories would be atleast 18m tall. But I get your point.
And for recycled, they would have to be non-modern turbines, modern ones haven’t reach EOL cycles yet.
The image is AI generated. The real building is depicted in another article linked below in the comments.
Cool design. Too bad it’s a useless building for storing the cars of rich selfish people.
The fuck are you on about? You are absolutely not rich in Sweden just because you own a car
Disagree. Almost all car owners globally are rich. It’s a luxury that is destroying the fabric of society and the planet. Parking garages like this are a complete waste of resources.
So then 85% of the households here are rich by your standards. Got it.
Yeah I mean I think it’s pretty widely acknowledged that Sweden is a rich country. That’s what makes it so problematic. They have the money and in many cases have built alternative transit but many people still selfishly drive everywhere.
I get that this is hard to hear for many people but it being normal in your society doesn’t change the harms it causes. Change isn’t easy but it starts with acknowledging the problem and at least not making it worse by building more car infrastructure.
We pay our taxes and have a good welfare system. That does not mean that everyone here is rich. It means that we have a functioning government that gives a shit about its people.
And what do you know about how we transit? We use our trains, we use our public transport, we use bikes, we walk. Sometimes driving a car is required. Our country is long and not everything is located within walking distance.
Many people here care about our planet and its future and we try to act accordingly. One way we do it is focusing on renewable energy and we also try to replace fossil fuels in cars with better options.
Removing cars from existence is not the solution you think it is and it’s not realistic to think it will ever happen. What we need is environmentaly friendly cars.
