I like these tiny cars they look fun to drive and get up to 50mpg but I would be scared to do it in USA. I’d get flattened by some wine mom driving a 37 foot 12,000 lb McSUV and they wouldn’t even know they ran me over.

The most incredibly funny outcome of the whole Trump saga is if he was ultimately undone by doing actual correct and cool stuff, such as bringing small trucks back, insisting that sports have logical names, and sucking dick.

Im not sure about the author’s assertion that Americans dont want small cars. I think they dont want small cars at the 25,000 price point theyre at.
I know lots of people who would buy EVs and keis, but all those people are under 35 and dont have 25,000 to spend. So instead they buy used honda fits or used priuses. If they could get these cars down to the 6,000 dollar price point millennial and zoomers are buying cars at then they absolutely could sell them here. But that would mean manufacturing them overseas where labor is paid in an export currency which the US seems unwilling to do and the UAW seems to really like.
