Hey look it’s me Caj, full name LadyCajAsca… I just discovered this (funnily enough) and so I guess I’ll… introduce myself? (late, but whatever…)

Look, I think if you look at my bio you’ll quickly notice who I am, so whatever, I’ll just provide my context as to why I’m here: (for the one who approved me, this will look very familiar, hah)

I’ve been coasting around lemm.ee and lemmy.zip for awhile, you might know me there as [redacted, I’m not exposing my alt here lol), but I’ve decided I want an account for mainly looking at leftist spaces, the big three: ‘ml/grad/hexbear’ and posting/commenting as one.

I figured it’d be cool to have a different username and also because I wanted to differentiate my tech/chill account from the left-centered account here, because it’s way easier to manage having specifically here for left wing perspectives than going through .world/.ml/sdf/shtjstwrks communites. I know that a lot of people there, especially piefed have grievances to us leftists, and so I’d want to be able to publicly comment while keeping my politics to this account.

Final notes… uhhh… if you’re remotely interested in Filipino Politics please visit the lemmygrad community where I occasionally post stuff there… news, and analysis (from other people lol, I’m not that well-read yet) of well… Filipino Political Issues, anyways, that’s all, bye bye!

Hi! Will be cool to a Filipino perspective on issues related to that. It’s an interesting situation being a colonized country, that was invaded and basically taken over by Spain and then the US, has independence but is still basically their puppet through military bases, and the people mostly still love the US (that I’ve met). But they also have a strong, ongoing guerilla communist movement, as well as I believe a Muslim guerilla movement (not sure if they’re related or not?).

Seems like it could lead to some interesting contradictions that could go either way, like many of the countries in LatAm. I’m sure I got plenty of that wrong, but it’s why it would be cool to learn more about it!

    • Hi! Thank you for being interested in Filipino Politics and History in general. Though, you can find most of my ‘effort-posting’ and other stuff in that Philippines Lemmygrad community, I’ll comment on stuff here briefly (in my own observations and opinions!):

      1. The US is seen in the same way libs see the US, basically it was good before Trump and the US interfering in the Philippines is a necessary counterweight to ‘Chinese aggeession’.
      2. Expanding on the South China Sea, this is one of the many reasons that the PRC is seen badly in the Philippines, and that even leftists here mostly agree that we shouldn’t slant heavily only to the US or China due to this situation. I would like to see what would happen if the US/West was kicked out and the Philippines got to deal with the South China Sea on it’s own, but that’ll be for when it happens.
      3. On the CPP, while I’m basically uninformed on what their actual extent is, they have a good underground base, and from what I’ve seen aren’t doing major stuff yet (protracted people’s war so…) but things are bound to get interesting soon with the flood control scandal (check the lemmygrad Philippines community for more details on that). I think they’re letting the mass legal organizations (in which for example, Bayan, a general left-wing coalition and the CPP share analysis but not tactics) organize and agitate before making a move, likely when the contradictions heighten even more, and the AFP (Philippine Army) does something.
      4. The Muslim Guerilla is mostly restricted to the Islamic State jihadists nowadays, as both the main organizations, MNLF/MILF (Moro National/Islamic Liberation Front) have disarmed and have been given concessions in the form of the BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao). I’m not a Muslim myself, so someone more informed could provide better coverage, but I haven’t heard much from them since that autonomous region was formed.

In how things would go, I do think that the majority of Filipinos hate corruption and would like to see at least the current administration be kicked out, arrested, trialed and jailed but as in the general communism fight… There’s a long way to go and after (hopefully) the inevitable collapse of the current administration’s power due to the corruption scandals, between the liberal opposition and leftists (broad non-liberal parties) currently being the main two benefitting from the corrupted government exposé, I hope the left wins, but for now, we shall see, and of course, I’ll post it on the Philippines community on Lemmygrad when that happens~
