“To be in the shade The oldest trees above my head When I’m away In my heart, there is a heaven.”
I’ve seen the Toadies a few times way back when. Once I got to see them when a local radio station used to put on “low dough shows”, for $1.05 (they were 105.5fm). Got to meet them and have a couple beers w them before they loaded up their bus and left.
Good times.
Rad! What were they like? I’ve heard they’re very laid back and not really into the whole rockstar persona thing.
They were all pretty cool. It was a bunch of fun. One of my friends who was there lived near the dam that created Possum Kingdom Lake which is where the the lead singer spent a bunch of time when he was a kid. It was mostly the two of them swapping stories about PK Lake, which I’ve been to a bunch myself (it’s around ft worth Texas).
We bought them a couple beers, they bought us a couple beers and they loaded up and left. They signed a bunch of stuff, gave me a CD and a shirt which were both signed by everyone in the band. I have the CD somewhere, the shirt is long gone.
