whats fucked is that people who are paying more for all those price increases that haven’t gone down since covid (as if they were ever gonna) hear blompf say he “lowered prices” and they just uncritically and very enthusiastically repeat it. they’ll say trump lowered prices and if they’re paying higher prices its because brandon pressed the “screw hard working white americans” button
I’ve mentioned this before but my Trump supporting cousin told me before Trump was re-elected that he wanted Trump, infamous slumlord capitalist, to win because he will lower rents.
Trump never lowered rents or put any rent control in place during his first term but he nevertheless believed Trump would do this because vibes.
Trump is fighting for bourgeoisie interests first and foremost and this is one way the bourgeoisie can give themselves a raise all at once…ironically by betraying their own free-market principles by minimizing competition.
It’s not ironic. Capitalism creates its turmoil and war because the bourgeoisie is a competitive class, they’re only able to unify within ever-shifting pillars. Their unity is an economic contradiction, mirroring how workers’ competition is a political contradiction. The rich can’t unify the species because money ultimately does not have a way to be shared, only transferred.
