That’s largely because you listen to media outlets run by them.

Please point me to the news outlets not run by bad guys talking about how the good guys can win. I’m being serious, I need that kind of news

          https://www.iheart.com/podcast/1119-cool-people-who-did-cool-96003360/

As long as there’s been oppression, there’ve been people fighting it. This weekly podcast dives into history to drag up the wildest rebels, the most beautiful revolts, and all the people who long to be—and fight to be—free. It explores complex stories of resistance that offer lessons and inspiration for us today, focusing on the ensemble casts that make up each act of history. That is to say, this podcast focuses on Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff.

          Give Margaret Killjoy a listen.

She’s really a great journalist. Her coverage of the mutual aid in North Carolina after the recent hurricane was good. I first heard her on my favorite podcast Behind the Bastards, but I haven’t listened to any Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff yet.

Plus she’s from my home state!

I would suggest avoiding news altogether. Look into hobbies and find other ways of spending your time. Doomscrolling is like a trauma addiction. There are tons of great people in hobbies who are so nice and helpful and they’re just really glad to share their passion with you.

Well, personally I do tend to listen to a broad selection of similar outlets, but whenever something catches my interest specifically I do some light digging to verify the primary sources they’re reporting on. Occasionally I’m not able to sort things out, but it’s actually quite shocking how many sensational stories will fall apart almost immediately when you look even a little bit deeper. Far too often, even just reading the article itself will actually debunk it’s own headline.

Oh you mean all the fascist Trump fans that rioted over the fact a rich guy that murdered his girlfriend was gonna be extradited?

Yeah people should probably be reminded about why that even happened.

Literally a bunch of reactionary shit heads pleading for the return of western colonial rule. Those losers can keep crying about it fuck em.

I remember a couple years ago when the british judges finally left, I swear to god those colonial dickheads were all still wearing powdered wigs. Never has it been so obvious who the bad guys were that a toddler could point it out.

Nowadays it seems unlikely for revolutions or rebellions to achieve anything. The surveillance and control apparatuses are almost always too strong and sophisticated to be overthrown.

“Your comment […] was removed. Reason: Rule 6.”

How is it off-topic to point out that the Hong Kong ‘’‘protesters’‘’ were a gaggle of CIA-backed stooges supported by literal fascist mercenaries from the Empire’s other imperial project?
