At about a year and a half now with my Z Fold 5. Echoing many of the others here. Still works great, opens flat, and I never want go back to a non-foldable.

        1. Pixel fold here. Entire last week I opened it once.

I have quite literally never used the front screen on my galaxy fold 4. I hear the pixel has a more regular proportioned front screen.

Yeah, external screen is just like using a regular smart phone. Normal size and aspect ratio amoled.

          • The cover screen in my Flip3 is basically useless. It tells me the time. So I open the Phone every time I use it, dozens on times a day. It would be an under exaggeration to say mine’s been opened and closed 13,000 times since I’ve owned it.

I’ve also hard dropped it (waist-high, onto concrete, 3 or 4 times, and I’ve never had it in a case. I’ve always dropped it closed, though, and I think that’s contributed to how well it’s survived. If it had a bigger outside screen like the newer models, something may have broken by now.

I’ve had mine for about 4 years now, I love it.

I’ve had the inside screen replaced once now under extended warranty. I’d still buy another folding.

Lol, I’m on my second one, neither broke/is broken

It’s not a stupid idea, being able to have a small tablet whenever you need is amazing

It’s the only tablet I actually use instead of just collecting dust within a couple weeks of getting it because it’s never where I am when I need it the most.

I know one guy who has a folding smartphone and it’s not broken now. Where does that leave us

My wife has a z flip 6 and it works great. She had a 3 previously and never had any issues either

It’s a great idea. I have the Motorola razr 2024 and it’s a horizontal hinge like a normal flip phone instead of a vertical one. It’s compact and I can use 100% of the smart phone features without even opening it. It’s the ultra compact smart phone I’ve been searching for for years.

This seems like the better direction. I’d rather have a phone that turns into a pocket watch than a tablet that turns into a phone.

I love my Z Fold 4. Never going back to a non-foldable ever again. It’s so convenient being able to view websites in desktop mode without scrolling. Or view restaurant menus full-size. Or show a video or picture to someone on a giant screen that fits into my pocket. The possibilities are endless.

Fold4 here. Ditto. Awesome for web browsing, menus and the like.

Its a pocket tablet. I most often open mine to play games or read manga.

I’m on my second, first Fold 3 and now Fold 5. Assuming they continue to gain traction, I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to a non-foldable.

The only issue I’ve had is the internal screen protector (installed in factory by Samsung) started to peel up in the middle/fold crease. Got it replaced for free under warranty.

I’ll probably use this one until it starts to show wear and look into a different brand to get away from Samsung. My current plans are something like a OnePlus Open or Pixel fold and use Lineage or Graphene.

I bought a 2 year old refurbished Z Fold 2 two years ago and it’s still going strong. If you treat your device with respect you’ll have no trouble.

I think it’s a fantastic idea. Wanted one since Samsung showed an S4(?) clamshell.

But they still have too many issues for me. I look forward to when it’s a standard thing, so the OS and apps work correctly.

Just sold my Samsung galaxy z fold 4. After a year of owning it, it stopped opening completely flat. Went back to my S21 Ultra which is generally just a better device.

You’re an asshole for scamming someone. Once the phone starts doing that, the main screen is doomed. It breaks within weeks.

Take better care of your phone next time. This only happens when you don’t protect the hinge against dust.

I didn’t scam anyone, they know about the issue and bought it cheap. Way to jump to conclusions.

Having to handle a phone with kid gloves because the hinge might get damaged from dust is a major flaw in the design. You don’t have to do that with a normal phone. It happened when the device was in the cupholder of my car, literally not even being used.

Same, lasted about a year and a half at most. Was replaced with non folding.
