It’s been too warm too. The spooky vibes are just not here yet

For a movement that started in Chicago, celebrated in the whole world on May 1st except in the US and Canada
My cat is not a fan of being held but that’s the way he tolerates it the most

Technology@lemmy.world•Sony Implements New Customer Harassment Policy Following Backlash Toward Its Plans to Stop Making Physical Game DiscsEnglish
5·5 days agoI worked at a call center for xbox. Yelling definitely worked because we had a protocol to escalate angry customers to tier 2 and they usually get some freebies like a few months of xbox live, some games or a gift card. There was a thin line between yelling/bring angry and being rude. We had the option to disconnect the call of there were personal insults
It reminded me of the one in Toledo. The only time I was there it was very warm and the penguins didn’t look too comfortable

Dad Jokes@lemmy.world•I got fired from my job at the Pepsi factory....English
6·10 days agoMy uncle had a high position first at coke and then switched to Pepsi and he had in his contact that he could not drink products from the competition in public. It was a hassle to find restaurants because we had to call ahead and ask what they served. If there was no option we had to request the drinks to be served in glasses and don’t have any cans or bottles on the table
The people who cared are also a big proportion of people that actually posted and commented there. I kept lurking for a while and the quality of content and discussion declined very quickly. Now there are a lot of bots fighting with other bots on big /r. The only communities that maybe stayed the same are the ones that were very niche to begin with

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Time really does fly, so what 'I feel old' moment have you come to realize based on how long it's been?
3·13 days agoA lot of bands that I liked when I was in high school are now on 20th anniversary tours of their famous albums.
Also I saw a few Pokemon red 30th anniversary banners while in Japan

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The prices of these NFL games…nope.English
6·13 days agoThey used to be one of the cheapest before Dan Campbell’s revolution, I went to a few matches when they were cheap, that’s when I realized that I prefer to watch NFL games on the TV. Hockey, NBA and soccer are great live, but NFL you spend more time looking at the giant screen to see the details of each play
Given that the “cover” of audible says “only from audible” I’d guess no
This would be “midly” if it was a $5 gas station sub
Flix-a-flat and similar products should be an absolutely last resort. They can plug the tire pressure sensors and they will corrode the tire over time, and the patch itself will deteriorate quickly so it will be leaking air after a while and most shops won’t touch a tire that has been plugged with one of those products
Yes, VPs and C-suite do not work for the employees, they work for the shareholders
It was moved from the top of the code of conduct to the last paragraph. It was very prominent and referenced a few times in the document prior to the change in 2018

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? August 11
4·27 days agoI like it overall, it’s very entertaining. I hate the protagonist sometimes but most of the time it’s ok

Reading the poppy wars #2
Kinda abandoned nexus.
I used to do it. Not a lot of money since I rarely carry cash but I’d give them my bottle return vouchers when I went to meijer or Kroger

You are right, I shouldn’t said the movement, but the may day or may 1st commemorates among other things the general strike that started on May 1st and the Haymarket affair that took place in Chicago
