  • <Blade Skill Online: Crushing the Competition with My Abysmal Stats, Useless Class, and Garbage Weapon!> volume 1-4 completed

The MC is bullied meathead boy that gets gender bended into a hot girl character after hitting random.

Why did I read this? Why did I finish it?

I think I mainly enjoyed the underdog story of a MMO player trying to make a broken build work. The AI running the game automatically and basically bugging out. Game mechanics are combined in odd ways to make a functional build and become OP. Then Devs react. Patch notes and all. The community reactions to the dumb build actually working.

Ending was pretty decent I’d say.

  • <From Villainess to Healer> Volumes 1-6 (ongoing)

Its a female hardcore gamer that gets pulled into the world of the MMO.

She uses her knowledge to become an adventurer, switch classes to a healer, become powerful (mainly pure support) and travel the world.

What’s interesting in game based isekai are how game systems are implemented and how accurate the world is to the game with NPCs/Events.

Seems like the status screen, quests and events exist for everyone but no one understands all the pieces. So people have professions like warrior and mage but no concept of proper builds. Ommiting extra spoilers here.

    Then comes a hardcore gamer…

  • Author. Gotcha.

I binged it in 3 days.

I’ve also read maybe 4 series in two weeks…

I really enjoy FUNA’s writing style.

The MC makes some dumb choices but thats just her quirk and it leads to fun outcomes. She’s also stubborn with her physical appearance. I understand her stance in not permanently changing her physical appearance.
She really should temporarily change her height or age when she disguises herself to aid in hiding. Just needs a dress that goes down to her ankles that still fits to her knees when she gains height.

I really enjoy when the MC rampages. Piss her off and you’re in for a world of hurt. Not many novels show the wrath of a woman. Be nice and you’ll be gifted many times over. Be evil she ruins the lives of the corrupt nobels/merchants.

  • <I shall survive using potions>

Female protagonist. I’m pretty sick of the mainstream shonen power isekai so I’m jumping around female protagonist stories. Asendance of a bookworm was such a joy.

Starts as a granted power isekai. OP just wants a slow life but gets a power to make potions in a world with basically no magic so she’s chased for her healing potions.

Best part is the MC isn’t some scared timid little girl. She’s fairly smart and gets revenge on people who try to take advantage of her. At the same time she chose potion creation as her power because she wants to help people.

Then she tries to sneakily help people which causes nobles/merchants to hunt her down. It’s a vicious cycle and quite entertaining.

Finished volume 11. They went through a time skip and got a bit of a reset on her being chased for her potions. But once again she can’t live staying under the radar and almost immediately starts getting hunted for potions / money.

  • I used to do support for residential computers. 80% of my clients were seniors needing help.

Best thing about that job was all the grandmas that would instantly make me food when I show up late and apologize “sorry, traffic is killing me today. I had to skip lunch to make your scheduled appointment”

I’d start the job and food would magically appear. I’d either do the job first or eat at the same time depending.

Afterwards all the conversations with them were great.

One favorite was this one grandma that was a WoW head during its hype. She was in a guild with her grandkids. Knew her shit too.

  • I managed to get real lucky getting my cloud architect job without a bachelors.

The trade off was loads of work experience in the exact field a job needed and a recommendation from someone on the project.

I still broke six figures before that job offer without the job recommendation. That was from job hopping for 3 years.

Gotta keep your resume up to date and literally keep applying. Got a new job? Update resume with new gig and keep applying.

Now I’m happy where I’m at. Fantastic work culture and comfortable salary. Can I make more? Maybe but my work life balance is good and I can pay my bills/save money.
