He’s gonna be dead soon enough one way or another. He doesn’t give a fuck about the future. He’s just trying to profit as much as he can right now.
I’m not apathetic, I’m realistic. No one has moved that needle significantly in 100 years so talking about it like you’re going to make it happen seems like setting yourself up to fail. Work with what you have instead of wishing you could have more. That’s how progress is made.
You’re absolutely right. People insist on making this ridiculous point every time a topic like this comes up. It’s like, holy shit, just let the destruction of all life on Earth be the point of the conversation instead of some stupid tangent about a lifeless rock in space.
That’s the same number it’s been for 100 years. You’re never going to change that by pointing it out so what is the goal of this conversation?
The percentage of people who don’t vote hasn’t changed much in 100 years. Call them lazy, uneducated, apathetic, etc, it makes no difference. They don’t vote and that’s all there is to be said about it. If you’re waiting around for them to start voting for your preferred candidate you’re going to be waiting for the rest of your life. Stop talking about them and start making other plans.
You might think so but there are many recent examples of things playing out counter to a plain reading of law so I’m not quite as confident.
Somebody get this man an idea board. We’ve got a new Steve Jobs here who, presumably, wouldn’t try to treat cancer with apple juice.
I still haven’t figured out how to download only the Monday episodes of TDS. Until then I guess I’m stuck watching on yt. The others are OK but Jon makes the show.
Web dev reasons and regular people reasons are not the same things
Or maybe just stop inventing new file formats for no fucking reason
It’s well past time that the people fight for themselves.
At least we successfully prevented the justice department from having the appearance of pursuing partisan goals. That would have been the worst possible outcome.
You presented your opinion and then contrasted it with that of middle school children spending their parents money. If you don’t think that comes off as you saying anyone who disagrees with you has the perspective of a middle schooler then you aren’t a very good communicator.
Maybe some people just don’t like grinding for hours and hours to replace stuff they already acquired in a video game. I’m not sure why you have to present your opinion as if it’s the only valid option and everyone who disagrees is an immature child.
I’m surprised it’s not higher given his popularity with 30% of the population. I would have expected about that amount.
I think you’re wrong about that. As someone who left I can say with some amount of certainty that most of the smart ones do leave and that’s part of why it remains shitty.
To be clear I’m referring to smart people I know who grew up there. The vast majority don’t live there anymore. This isn’t just a roundabout way of calling myself smart.
Inflated home values are a huge part of the problem. That’s a large part of the point I’m making. At face value it seems fine to say “they have a $4 million home, they can afford the property taxes” but if you apply the same rate to the homes that average people have to buy you’re going to end up in a shitty spot. If taxing the rich is the goal we shouldn’t be talking about property taxes on single family homes unless it’s specifically related to second and third homes.
It was a pretty convenient way for them to hand pick a nominee. Given how the last two played out I don’t think that’s an unfair lens to view the situation through.
