BuyFromEU@feddit.org•Is there *anything* we could try to get alternatives to YouTube?English
3·19 hours agoThe last decentralised alternative that was somewhat successful was LBRY, but the US government shut them down.
I’d love to see an alternative that uses IPFS, it seems like an ideal way to distribute videos.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that murder is now legal in California. Fully legal. Slaughter a family of four by driving over the speed limit. Go home.
2·19 hours agoThe older you get the less “life in prison” is a deterrent.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: There are hundreds of monuments around the world to people who abetted or took part in the murder of Jews and others during the Holocaust
6·1 day agoLooking into the specific monument, it appears to be in someone’s front garden, and there’s been legal attempts to have it removed.

41·2 days agoPerhaps, but I was talking in a more general sense, I assume most of the “targets” of these “services” were not Nazis. Also the law usually has little to do with morality and justice.
(It also raises the question, is it moral to sell fake nazi murders?)

244·2 days agoDoes lend credence to the idea that it should be banned though.
If it works, then it’s assault, murder, or conspiracy to commit assault/murder. If it doesn’t work then it’s fraud.

I think oracle and a few others still offer a free vps to start with.

11·3 days agoBut Spain requires non-nationals naturalising to renounce their previous nationality and presenting her British passport at the airport will legally risk her Spanish nationality.
Surely if she’s renounced her nationality she isn’t a British national?

Same reason Microsoft or Adobe do not stop piracy. They want to create friction that pushes people to pay, but if they fully blocked adblockers then it could create an impetus for a competitor to become popular.
