You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that Joseph Stalin created the Great Terror. He started killing people randomly including artists, generals, doctors, scientists, government officials. Everyone was terrified.
3·3 hours agoIt’s possible he was assassinated.
People forget there was around a dozen actual documented assassination attempts, the first in 1931.
That’s always the problem with being in power, there’s almost certainly someone who wants to get rid of you, but the more paranoid you behave about it the number of people who want you gone increases.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•GB News faces complaints after commentator claims ‘genocide’ against white people in UKEnglish
2·4 hours agoI doubt it will go very far, there’s been a court ruling that GBnews is allowed to host “current affairs” programs, and that impartiality rules don’t really apply to those. https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/GB-News-v-Ofcom.pdf

Approached for comment, Corbett-Dillon replied with a lengthy statement in which he said he stood by his comments. He compared his support for England to preserve its “historic English character” with his backing for Israel’s right to be a Jewish-majority state, or Japan to be a Japanese-majority society.

Depends on how great the tremors are.
Some cameras have sensor shift in body stabilization (IBIS), where it moves the sensor to compensate for shakes. I shoot an old Pentax k30 that has it.
Also a larger heavier camera could help dampen tremors?
On the camera you used, modern colour film is pretty “slow”, in that it has a low sensitivity (usually iso 100-400), so requires the shutter to be open longer. Digital will let you use a higher sensitivity, thus a faster shutter speed, so there’s less time for movement to affect the photo.

science@lemmy.world•Does medicinal cannabis work for depression, anxiety or PTSD? Our study says there’s no evidenceEnglish
28·1 day agoWhat a garbage article.
The article lionises RCT, the gives us
The data alone seems to suggest cannabis medicines are relatively safe. But this may not be reflected in real-world use.
So it’s okay to substitute “real world use” for side effects but not effects?
Currently, there is a mismatch between the research evidence on medicinal cannabis – mainly short-term trials and CBD formulations – and real-world use, which is longer term and often using high-THC products.
So they admit nobody is actually doing, or paying for, studies on the correct medication.
We need more research on cannabis medicines, particularly for conditions with limited alternative treatments, and monitoring over longer periods.
As the TGA conducts a review of medical cannabis prescribing in Australia, these findings should inform future regulation.
“we know fuck all else works for what people are using this for, but it should still be banned”.
What vindictive assholes.
Probably not, Kerensky’s government arguably wasn’t very competent, he was printing a lot of paper money, launched a doomed offensive in WWI, and accidentally turned the military into a democracy. Although he was arguably in an impossible position that was doomed no matter how competent he was.
