For example this post visible from lemmy.sdf.org is nowhere to be seen on the corresponding thread on lemmy.ml.
Oh… I was wondering why my comments where getting zero votes. I thought i might have been bozo-filtered.
… or https://lemmy.sdf.org/post/7277909 which shows that federation issues already existed before the update to an 0.19.X release candidate. In fact 0.19.X is supposed to improve federation when it is finally released and I’m actually looking forward to it.
But I do not expect this instance to run reliably on any version unless somebody is actively maintaining it – to name the elefant in the room.
Sorry but who or what is the elephant?

It is a known issue at least. We’re using a RC version of .19 that is ten days old, probably somewhat related. Hopefully when .19 is actually released and people update their instances it magically fixes (if not sooner).
Ah, I must have missed that thread. Sorry…
I’m curious: why use an RC in a “production” environment? Sounds like a recipe for problems like this.
It seems the trend has been updating right away, hoping they maybe stop that… https://lemmy.sdf.org/post/347031
N=1 but outbound federation just worked for me in a post. It seems some work was done just recently including an upgrade to -rc.8.
Has anyone tried actually logging into the system and posting a complaint to the help desk or asking around in comm or irc? It seems like the only thing that hasn’t been tried.
I have - and also to report problems with the SDF PeerTube server (Toobnix). I never got an answer. It’s like crickets in there. In the end, I had to request my account be reset completely at membership@sdf.org: it seems to be the only channel that actually answers.
I also have a problem with the SDF Matrix server and it’s the same story: nobody seems to answer user problems. I’ve actually given up on that one, because the problem is only annoying and I don’t use Matrix all that much anyway.
Thanks for documenting this! That is pretty concerning :(.
