It seems that for at most the past 2 days the federation is partially broken.

Comments, posts, votes and DMs load from other instances, but not the other way around.

A lot of things seem to be broken right now, and /u/SDF has been away for months.

Blocks and subscriptions aren’t working https://lemmy.sdf.org/comment/5513086 And lemmy.sdf.org is no longer listed here https://github.com/maltfield/awesome-lemmy-instances

I guess I’ll check back in a few months to see how things are going. But for now I’ll use other instances.

For anyone who chose this instance due to the low “blocked by & blocked instances” (see github link above), futurology.today https://futurology.today/ has low blocks too, but no old UI https://old.lemmy.sdf.org.

Things are more broken because of a undocumented upgrade from Lemmy 0.19.0-rc.4 to 0.19.0-rc.5 that happened sometime these past days and its been leading to connection issues all around

Its also concerning there has been no communication regarding these server upgrades in the main thread, Lemmy 0.19 doesn’t seem to be anywhere close to stable to be pushed onto main, yet we keep upgrading (perhaps because a downgrade from 0.19 is not possible?)

You should login to the system and express your concerns! I do agree lack of communication from within the platform is frustrating. But the sdf does have a help desk and chat rooms where you can reach the people who maintain the system.

I’m not familiar with any of them. IMO they should have a place here for it.

Additionally, less than a month ago SDF has sent out e-mails re-assuring that they’re in Lemmy for the long run.

We want to assure you that lemmy.sdf.org as well as our regional instances are in for the long haul. SDF.ORG is celebrating 36 years as a non-commercial community resource this year.

Yeah, it’s at least the second week, what with this and the 0.19RC ‘upgrade’ breaking app access I also have had to migrate

Done. Is there a way to link or transfer accounts yet?

Ooh that’s right. I just checked and it’s true: I posted something in a thread hosted on lemmy.ml and it shows up here on SDF but not when I visit lemmy.ml directly.

Gee, and I thought I was going slightly crazy, seeing as though there’s never any reaction or vote on anything I post outside of SDF anymore.

    Thanks for pointing this out!

Yup, thank god I’m not just that forgettable. It looks like incoming might be broken too now. There’s comments on lemmy.ca that I can’t see here.

The entire instance went down for me for a while. Also sdf.org itself has been failing to resolve all day. Has anyone tried logging into the system and popping on com or irc and asking around? Someone there might have a better clue what’s going on because I think there’s more issues than just lemmy right now. Dont forget the server that runs this lemmy instance is literally a public access server and you have the ability to raise issues directly with staff there.

Oh good! I was half expecting this instance to die. Maybe SDF is decades old, but I’m guessing the Lemmy instance isn’t their top priority.
