No I get it, when your kids and family are killed, there is nothing off the table to exact retribution. It’s a long and complicated conflict.

Hamas killed 1000 (edit: 1400) in the terrorist attack. Israel has in retribution killed 5000 and 2500 of those were children - so far …

Bay Ridge is a Middle Eastern neighborhood and many of those in attendance have family in Gaza. This is life or death for their families; the pain of settler colonialism and the apartheid state of Israel runs deep.

Shows that brutality isn’t just a middle east problem. Also - a peaceful protest in support of humanity would be understandably, but I certainly hope these protestors were protesting in support of ending war on both sides - and NOT supporting the barbaric horrible perversity of what Hamas did to Israel - that is indefensible and unsupportable by any means.

The war has been going on long before Hamas attacked; ending the war means ending the occupation.

What else is Hamas supposed to do?

It’s easy for us to sneer down at them from some ivory tower about morals and whatever, but practically speaking their only other choice is to lay down and die.

“All violence is unjustifiable”-type liberals are incapable of understanding the situation. Every single suggestion of what Palestinians could do instead has been tried and tried again.

And how many children do you suggest should be sacrificed upon the altar of war to achieve peace? What number is justifiable to you? Because what you’re intimating is that Hamas, not Palestine, was justified killing Israeli children because Palestine had it done to them. And that is such a reprehensible position to take.

The situation is fucked up, but that doesn’t mean there’s a justifiable reason for either side to kill civilians. Palestine deserves to be free, and killing innocent civilians shouldn’t be the path to achieve it.

You’re so close to getting it. Without Israel’s ongoing genocide there is no Hamas in the first place and without the Netanyahu government’s intentional propping up of Hamas it would have never been in a position of power in Gaza. Every drop of blood in these terrible events are on Israel’s hands.

murdering women and children is never the answer, even if Israel is doing it. Fuck, Hamas murdered people who were lifelong two state supporters of Palestinian rights, multiple people who worked for decades to help Palestine and de-escalate the violence. Hamas just confirmed to the world they’re the bad guys. Sure, Israel under Netanyahu is evil, but that doesn’t mean you want to join their evil fucks club.

A lot of those women were IDF reservists and veterans. Women aren’t children, don’t lump them together. It’s not more sad when women die, and it’s not less sad when men die. That’s paternalism.

It is sad that children died, but settlers (and yes, even two-staters are settlers) shouldn’t be bringing children to their settler-colonial occupation. The so-called two-state solution presupposes that Israel should be allowed to steal some land instead of all land.

              Now answer the question.

What the fuck are they supposed to do? Because to me? It looks like it’s either fight or die.

what are they supposed to do?

not fucking murder children. don’t descend to the depths your enemy has just because they’re ultra fucking traumatized. going both fucking ways.

                  That’s not an answer, that’s a platitude.

Give me a fucking answer. Name a thing they could do where there is no risk of civilian casualties. Literally anything.

Or do you want them to just lay down and die nobley?

it doesn’t, but it also puts Hamas firmly in the ‘will commit war crimes’ category. Hamas does not have Palestine’s interests at heart. And fucking BIBI KEPT THEM IN POWER.

You think that if Israel stopped their colonizing the conflict would be over?

Hell, Gaza is, apparently, the most radical area and Israel officially dismantled the settlements there a decade ago.

The Houthis literally call for the destruction of Israel and death of all Jews in their motto, and they’re not even neighbors. There’s a whole two countries between Israel and Yemen.

Imagine what the people in Palestine feel.

This shit won’t be over. Humans are very, very bad at forgetting past wrongs, especially when religion is involved, and our worst always see peacemakers as weak, not brave.

But don’t worry, soon enough the resource wars will start in earnest and the question will get settled one way or another.

Its less about stopping colonization and the only option to end the conflict is Israel leaving the area entirely. If Palestine is eliminated, they are surrounded by countries that dont want Israel there. Israel has no incentive to end conflict as they receive continuous funding as long as there is an opponent. The only way the conflict will ever be resolved is with them leaving.

You mean two. Palestine ≠ Hamas, and if Israel stopped today, they’d still have Hamas terrorizing Palestine.

  • This doesn’t look peaceful, here are some other news resources:

Both use language suggesting the protesters were “aggressive” and didn’t comply with police presence to contain the protest.

That said, details seems to be limited, so I hope we get more clarity and video footage to illuminate what exactly happened and who instigated.

France and Germany banned protests for Palestine. Why would the NYC protestors bend down for the NYPD telling them they’re not allowed to protest against civilians killed by Israeli war crimes?
