The US has no historic city. It’s born yesterday.
There’s a 500 year old castle in Seattle! https://www.thornewoodcastle.com/
Yeah that’s about it.
… anyone who fills out the form must secure a job with a Shawnee County employer to even be considered eligible. But be sure to check with your new job before making any moves, as not every employer offers relocation incentives — participation is voluntary and position-specific… the relocation program is typically reserved for “hard-to-fill roles” which likely require specialized skills, education or experience. However, the program is open to all employers, with over 50 companies participating today.
Oh wow. An astounding effort by Topeka, gathering 50 employers to help sound the clarion call for more MAGAts.
They’ve even flavored the bait for them by spicing it up with fine print gotchas, etc.
Ah, Topeka. Same old trash as ever.
This is the kinda thing the phrase “You couldn’t pay me to X” was made for.
Is this one of those, all the talent left towns? If so why not figure why they left and fix that.
I know that sounds like I’m stating it’s easy but there seems lots of people willing to step out of the rat race a little in return for fair treatment and decent transport/support
There are almost no jobs in demand there apart from healthcare, government administration, and shipping logistics. The State of Kansas is the largest employer in Topeka (10k), more than double the next-highest (Stormont Vail Health @ 4,400).
They can’t do anything to really create job demand out of thin air, especially because even if they entice companies to open an office there, they can’t get them to pay high enough to make people move there (and why would a company move there when they can just hire remote?).
It’s Kansas, so there’s no real natural appeal (and Colorado is Bluer, richer, prettier, and due-west). The only thing going for them is their very low CoL.
The whole state is a literal flat empty field.
… and we have legal weed and psychedelics.
It is bluer, but if you take into account everywhere outside of the Denver area and across most of I-70 it’s a very purple state. Just take a drive up from Denver to Fort Collins via Greeley and you’ll see what I am talking about.
Regardless, it’s hella better than Kansas any day.
