Shredded cheese Gusta from Montreal was from favourite but I can no longer find it nowadays.

For vegan butter, Grande Maison from Gatineau was my favourite, but I cannot find it on the east coast. It spoils within a week but it seems healthier and tastes great.

I don’t think Daiya is Canadian. I thought it was owned by a Japanese pharmaceutical.

Imo, if you live in a spot outside access to Canadian vegan cheese, making your own is better.

Nutritional yeast is super healthy and taste like cheese on its own. But is not from Canada.

Cashews which is used to make a lot of cheeses, are not from Canada.

There is a blend my mother in law makes for homemade cheese for mac and cheese, I should get the recipe. Its good. From memory, its something like

    –

    • Tofu
    • Potatoes
    • Sweet potato
    • Carrots
    • Nutritional yeast
    • Lemon juice
    • Salt
    • Pepper and whatever spices you like 🙂

    –

She also has a homemade parmesan mix that she keeps with the spices that doesn’t need to be refrigerated.

Daiya is about the best anywhere and it’s Canadian.

Edit: sorry, just realized they don’t explicitly say they’re vegan. I’m not vegan so I didn’t really think about it until after I posted.

I can’t answer your question but I can say as a vegan that different fake cheeses are best for different things. My suggestions would vary wildly based on what food you’re using it for.

I don’t know that I’ve ever had a good one. They’re getting real fucking good with meat alternatives, but cheese has a long way to go.
