51·8 days agoThey’re better than other democrats I’ve seen but it’s clear that Democrats will not fix this. Democrats have not only been complicit, but many are actively supporting Trump. Another impeachment attempt is a waste of effort.
The dems are appropriating and sucking energy away from protests so they can try to get elected. We do not have the time to wait around for an election. Project 2025 will be complete by then.

11·11 days agoInbe4 the starter-home priced housing is bought up, demolished, rebuilt, and sold as luxury housing on the market, as airbnbs, or rentals with no rent control.
Invest in public transit, HSR connecting southern Ontario cities, and rezone/build bikeable/walkable neighbourhoods with increased density. Bonus for rent control and affordable non-market housing. Basically do the opposite of Ford’s attempt to turn Ontario into one big 401.

That’s a reasonable thing to say, but not to trans people who are being actively persecuted by the US government. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be in that situation and it is the responsibility of society to stand up for trans people.

Garbage take. Celebrate neither. Do protest, but not in celebration of the horrendous slaveowner politician or the military which has been an imperial menace for generations and is now being used to threaten neighbouring countries.
61·16 days agoImpeachment is hopium at this point. You’ve tried it already and it pains me to say that it’s not looking like you’ll be able to vote your way out of this one either. You need more solidarity, more people protesting, and more more mutual aid and support networks to help each other get through this.
It should be directed towards the state, not the people. That’s something we struggle with in Canada too, and generalising all the people in a country only benefits MAGA. We need solidarity in the face of fascism.

13·19 days agoOur FPTP electoral system enables and encourages majority governments on a minority of votes.
Poilievre was on track to this exact scenario which was narrowly avoided by an unprecedented reversal in Canadian politics.
Regardless of your opinion on the party, we then nearly handed the Liberal party a majority on a minority of votes too and effectively turned parliament into a two-party system by gutting the NDP to avoid a conservative government (vote splitting and strategic voting are also encouraged by FPTP).
