Also why is central Asia and northwest Asia on the same latitude, and also south Asia and west Asia?

They are not. The center of the text “Central Asia” is 8 degrees closer to the equator than the center of the text “Northwest Asia”, and the center of the text “South Asia” is 10 degrees closer to the equator than the center of the text “West Asia”.

Besides Northwest and west Asia, I’ve heard all the other terms used to describe areas in Asia. So it’s not really so farfetched to use.
The only one I could see people’s Jimmys being rustled about is the Northwest Asia. Depends on how you define a continent, but if Australia is one, it’d stand to reason Europe is (or was? Before it crashed into Asia) one as well.
I’ve read “West(ern) Asia” used before for the area marked on this map.
