He didn’t go to jail for raping kids for over a decade…

But for paying one of the kids off, and that was less than a year in jail

“He admitted to the abuse at a sentencing hearing, though he was never convicted of any sexual crimes.”

From his wiki page. Did he really admit to it and not get prosecuted???

What a fucking cartwheel of a headline to not say this man was a soulless pedophile who was third in line to the presidency for a time.

Read the Bible… This guy went to heaven.

Edit: guys, I’m not saying this guy was good… I’m saying Christian heaven is full of the worst people.

      Good grief…

I was raised as a Missouri synod lutheran. Very conservative. I say raised. I’m not active in the church anymore for obvious reasons. I actually read the bible. And didn’t want to be any part of those hypocritical chucklefucks. I know you are joking. But I think we can all rest more comfortably knowing that if there’s a hell this dumbass is in it.

1000%. And that’s definitely something no one should forget about Denny hastert. He was a boy hungry pedophile. And revered by the GOP for decades

The problem with hell is it undermines all that Christian rot about forgiveness, pacifism, and kindness. Jesus isn’t just a God of redemption, he’s a God of infinite punishment and never-ending vengeance. And Hastert can absolutely accept Jesus and get a ticket to ride. The Holocaust Jews on the other hand, not so lucky. When I realized that all those Jews went straight from Hitler’s oven into Jesus’ oven, it permanently damaged my faith.

I think it was Esperanza Rising or some other book that had kids talking about this idea, that if you accept Jesus and repent your sins at the last moment you’re good to get into heaven. They were worried their friend who died wouldn’t get into Heaven because he still might have had unwashed sins.

Idk the bible, but is that accurate? You can do whatever you want, and as long as you confess and say “my bad” you’re good?

I got it. There’s a bunch of black/white absolutists around these parts that are incapable of understanding obvious satire.

        It’s a known issue.

Are you citing the book of fairy tales like it has anything to do with real life?

We got beloved octogenarians, now a hated octogenarian and child rapist; almost there. I’d love to open that particular bottle of bourbon in 2026.

Would have been much better if he’d died at 44, though, the year before he first entered Congress.

Or better yet, at 22 before he got access to his victims.

He died of natural causes in his home, probably after living a comfortable life.

Maybe there’s an afterlife where he has to make up for his sins. Otherwise…

Hastert was an exemplary Republican House Speaker; Mike Johnson and others should follow his example and be convicted of their crimes or follow John Boehner’s example and resign.
